People wake up and smell the coffee. What we have is a two party system that pushes the legislation on behalf of the special interest groups, big business and other entities contrary to, and sometimes against the wishes of the majority of citizen and calls itself a democracy. What changes from one election to the other and one administration to the other are the faces, the party at the helm, the majority in congress, the house or both, but the overall agenda whatever it may be stays the same, as it was set forth by its original authors.

Everyone seems to agree that most of the politicians are in the pockets of lobbyists and special interest groups. It’s funny though how it’s always the other side that we tend to blame. I’m Republican or I’m a Democrat therefore it’s the other side that’s corrupt or my representative or my congressman may be catering to the special interest groups but he brings in enough pork barrel to this district so I will keep him in office. Newsflash a two party system is not a democracy nor is it capable of policing itself once it reaches a certain level of corruption yet we all have to pay for their mistakes with our tax dollars.

Each election cycle one party blames the other for the current ailments of the country, promises the usual; health care reform, education system reform, or social security system reform. For those of you who think these are brand new issues ask your parents, when was the first time they first heard of those issues during the election campaign. These issues are hot and debated every election cycle yet nothing has ever been done about it. With only two parties deciding our destiny and both promising to make these reforms they would have done it by now, if they wanted to. Don’t you think?

The excuses are the best, for the most part a minor squabble with a finger pointing and name calling. It reminds me of the scene from a playground of the grade school during recess. How else would an average American know who’s at fault for the current state of affairs, even though they already are pointing with their fingers. I would not expect them to be anything but, since the election process is nothing more than a popularity contest and peoples attention span is very short. In four years time all will be forgotten and we will have same excuses and the same issues to debate. One thing that will change is the villain, this time it will be the other party or person. No one will even think of saying Deja Vu because all will be forgotten.

When something borders on illegal activity and calls for impeachment procedure investigations by the congress or at the very least hearings by the congress what excuse are they feeding us? We have the majority in congress by few seats only but we don’t have the necessary 2/3 majority of the vote for the legislation to pass, therefore we can’t do anything about it. That’s the nature of the beast, each election cycle only 1/3 of the seats are up for the reelection and neither party will reach the necessary 2/3 majority. I would still like to see it put to the vote that way all sober thinking individuals could judge for themselves where the interest of any given politician lay.

Take a good look at yourself and read your own comments again and most of all be honest with yourself. What I have seen so far is people who can’t see past the skin color or the party affiliation or I want to be associated with the winner attitude, another words popularity contest. For you election is like choosing a Prom Queen. Based on those credentials you have already chosen your candidates be it McCain or Obama, but will it really change anything?

youre not wrong. but thats a rather simplistic view. you have to play the hand your dealt. or say 'whatever' and just take the p!ss;)
