Then how can you Make a Crushing statement like that..?

Small parts of manchester. ( And remember Its a BIG Place. ) Have dangers.
Like any other Major city.

But close to the city.
Or outskirts like Buxton. ( A Beautiful Place )
And Trafford.

Are safe places to live.

I'm Rightfully proud of my hometown.. :))

Then you need the Lake District, which is near the west coast and one hour from the east coast. Or as mentioned earlier, Newcastle-upon-Tyne on the opposite side of the country.
You would be within reach of Scotland, Cumbria, Northumberland, North Yorkshire. These areas can be vastly different.
Compare: the Borders with the Lake District or Lindisfarne with North Yorkshire.

The lake District was recently voted "the best view" in the UK, in a tv program poll.

Me too :) Wonderful place to live if you take the time out to discover all the great places - Holcombe Hill, Burrs Country Park, Hyndburn Clog, Jumbles Country Park, Moses Gate Country Park, Pennington Flash County Park

The above are just a small % of places to visit, all free and natural.

sorry BW, I admit the beach is nice, but it does have a reputation as a retirement place. I spent NYE there once, stayed in a very boring hotel and went to some pubs where there were some very dodgy individuals, so it put me off. I still think the Wolverhampton roundabout is the best bet, and its very economical.

youre right - it does have that reputation but no longer deserved imo... the centre of town gets a bit mad at the weekend and no oaps in sight... loads of quieter places to go for the more sensibly mature among us and there are plenty of country pubs just a short drive away

yes you are right about that one too. a mate of mine lives there..he is a psychiatric nurse and is raking it in on the night shifts at the numerous homes there. Just hands out a few pills and watches TV all night, while the care assistants do all the crap jobs.

Yes - went there for a week on a conference once. Maybe that's why I think Bournemouth is cool - I'm comparing it to Eastbourne !

Damn - nostalgia has overtaken me. I'm sitting here remembering the Alice Lisle and Red Shoot Inns now. Fine pubs out Ringwood way. The Red Shoot used to do the best sausage butties in the known universe.
