Birthday Dinner Ideas?

I want to make a surprise Polish dinner for my Polish friend's birthday but I'm not really sure what I should make. I've looked at all kinds of recipes but I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on what I should make for this special dinner. I'm also planning to make a birthday cake. Any ideas ?

a lovely cake with chocolate, cream, jam and banana, its lovely!
