I think in England mixed raced kids are accepted more now than they were 20 years ago and btw it wasnt the white kids at school that gave my school mate hassle it was a couple of black girls! So you see the lesson for today is:

i lived in a black neighbourhood (brixton) and was never harrassed in any way. it`s the way you carry yourself. if you look confident walking down the streets you shouldn`t get attacked but if you look lost and vulnerable, that`s a different story. one time i was coming back from a club with a female friend at 1am. we were going through some backstreets and came across a bunch of black teenagers. i was walking confidently and wasn`t scared at all while she chicken out when she saw the guys started walking in our direction and run home. i was like wtf? the guys eventually crossed the street, they weren`t even following us. @_@

Not like my experience when with some (4) Pakistani youths 14-17 Y.O in Limehouse (branch rd) area of London- who set upon us just because they thought my wife looked too good to be left alone..... they were armed with 6" screwdrivers, fortunately we where coming back from the ski show and ski poles are slighty longer than 6"s... right in front of the stations CCTV, police couldn't help because tower hamlets boro council hadn't turned the cameras on.....

and you wonder why i'd pound the next guys face in if it ever happens again !

Your argument would hold water if it wasnt for the fact that a lot of black people in Britain are second or 3rd generation Africans. Therefore they have never been slaves, or forceably moved from their country, or hung from trees, or put into ghettos, or limited to particular bathrooms or schools or given prison sentences 4x longer.

I can't speak for Britain, but this happens every single day in America. Plus, Poles know as well as anyone that history weighs upon you every day no matter if you went through it or not.

Is'nt there a statute of limitations on blaming history for personal shortcomings?

Also, Poles may blame history for institutional failures in their country but I'm not aware of any of them blaming history for any individual disappointments they experience.

It's just that white people, and I am no exception, really have no idea of the inconsistencies in our society. We're so privaledged that we can't see beyond our own noses. This is natural but it doesn't make it right. Two years ago, white people in America were polled and 75% believed that blacks had an equal chance to succeed in America. That might not seem outrageous until you consider that 40 years earlier in 1965, the same poll was given and the same results were found, that 75% felt that Blacks had a fair shake. In 1965! I mean, if we were so wrong then, what's keeping us from being just as wrong now?
