Yes, Bogna is just a surname (there's no such first name in Polish I think)...

Bogna is a first name, not surname. I known that becouse I live in Poland whole my life smile
About that translation what is mean "gift from god" I never herd :P
Female name Bogna is conveted from polish male name- Bogdan.
