Hi my name is Keturah Brajcki. I live in California U.S.A. My Dad(John Casmeir Brajcki) is dead and I want to know more about my family with out having to talk to my Grandmother whom just came into my life when my Dad passed away. I don't like her to much. There are words that I have been hearing about if I went to Poland and said my last name I could be hung? But if they Re-enstated the crown it would go to my uncle(Jerry Casmeir Brajcki). I want to know if any of this is true. I'm told many things about my heritage that I'm not so sure is true. Like a big nose and dark skin. I am 13 and am living with my Aunt on my Mother's side. I am very interested about Poland and my heritage, I would also like to travel there one day, But if these rumours are true I don't think it would be safe or a good ideal to go. I am told about a statue with my families last name on it(Brajcki). Is that true? I really am interested in my culture. I do not think I am full Polish but close to it. I am what you can call a mut I guess! Haha. You have to laugh sometime. I would talk to my Grandpa about finding out more stuff about my back round because he is into geneology , But he doesn't respect the Polish people. He would make fun of me every day. Anyways If you have any information you think I would be interested in please massage me on my myspace acount(sorry I do not check my email that often) Myspace.com my email is kidderlikewoa@yahoo.com after you find me just enter that in where it says email(my profile is set on a strict private setting) and on the blank spot where you can put notes say that you have Polish Info I might like.
Thank you.

Hello Keturah Brajcki,
And welcome to the Polish forum.
I remember being 13, I am now 30. When I was 13 and 14 it was the most difficult time in my life, I hope this is not the same for you.
I am Irish and live in Poland, near Krakow. I can not help you finding your ancestry and think t is important for you to find out, you do not know where you are going until you know where you've been. I think you would be perfectly safe coming here. Poland has changed very much.
But there are plenty of thread on here that may help you.
Best of luck

thank you.
Do you know if those rumours are true?
Because I want to visit Poland, but I don't want my head chopped off?
I was thinking it was just my siblings messing with me.
Hmm.
I'm confused.

I am quite sure your head will remain firmly on you shoulders when you come to Poland.
The Poland your family are thinking of sounds like it from hundreds of years ago.
And we are all confused.

SeanBM is correct, this is rather silly that your family has told you this ;0)

Poland you could say is a more civilised country than the US as the abolition of death penalty Poland took place in 1998.
So feel free to come to Poland when you are older with your head held high, being proud of your Polish ancestry ;O)

Brajcki is a very rare surname (only 3 bearers in Poland), but I cannot see anything offensive or humiliating about it. Someone must have been pulling your leg.
