as a born and bred Midlander I feel qualified to impart an opinion here... which is.....
Birmingham is better than Venice and a world away from Coventry.. any Polish people heard of the expression ' to send someone to Coventry'.. it means not to speak to them.. ie. to banish them to one of the worst places you could imagine. As for the Black Country.. now thats the true heart of England.

We can slag our own home off as much as we want, we think it's our right. After all, we were unlucky enough to be born here, <grumble grumble> but nothing makes our blood boil more than hearing a non native slagging it off. No matter how valid that person's points may be

Well said Huegel.. that is so true. I travel a lot and regularly moan about the UK to others.. however, it gives people from other countries the feeling that we all hate our own country and they wonder why.. but if they try to join in.. just watch us turn... this is just one of those quirks of being British.

It's the same all over the world.....we can knock our own countries but don't expect us to accept graciously a foriegner doing the same......it's like family.....I can b*tch all day long about someone in my family, but if an outsider says anything negative about my family, I'll be the first to defend......

Umm. I know it has more miles of canals that Venice but I see no equivalent of St Marks Square. I'd better stop there cos I know HOW sensitive peole can be at times

I agree.

uffff, much better So are you english, American, Polish?

America is made from many nations and cultures. Ireland is about twice smaller than Florida only, so it's difficult to talk about Americans. It's enormous country. However they are proud they are Americans. I see some connections between you and Imperium Romanum, BTW I love ancient Rome.

Yes the Gladiatorial entertainment of mass rapes, cruixifiction , re-enactments of battles and general slaughter were great fun? Slavery that's very admirable too?

There is very little left of any of that today. When did you last go to watch a roman play or read a book by a Roman author. True there was much to be impressed by Rome, but love? no, I don't think so..

It wa an Empire based on blood, something it shares in common with American i suppose.

I dont have a problem with the guy, he does good things and
tries to help people.

Its probably cause I play guitar and could never get into "The Edge`s" style,
but there are a few songs that I like by them.
The lyrics are usually good

I`m the Bluesman...
