Churchill famously said. "We shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills. We shall never surrender."
The courage and character that Churchill pledged for Britain had already been demonstrated by Poland. It was the first country to experience the terror of the Nazi Blitzkrieg, the first to fight back, the first to say -- and mean -- "We shall never surrender." Poland fell in October 1939, but its government and military refused then, and refused for the rest of the war, to capitulate. In a remarkable odyssey, scores of thousands of Polish pilots, soldiers, and sailors escaped Poland -- some on foot; some in cars, trucks, and buses; some in airplanes; some in ships and submarines. They made their various ways first to France, thence to Britain to continue the fight. For the first full year of the war, Poland, whose government-in-exile operated from London, was Britain's most important declared ally.

When dozens of Polish fighter pilots, including 303 Squadron, took to the air during the Battle of Britain, the RAF already had lost hundreds of its own fliers, replaced in many cases by neophytes who barely knew how to fly, much less fight. The contribution of the combat-hardened Poles, especially the men of 303, was vital. Indeed, many believe it was decisive!!!!!!!!!!

.
"If Poland had not stood with us in those days. . . the candle of freedom might have been snuffed out," Queen Elizabeth remarked in 1996.

Young Pakistanis have always had a thing against the English, and it has nothing to do with the British empire, it's due to the fact that when they came to England, none of the English girls wanted to know them because they are muslims. The whole Pakistani / English conflict of today is based on that same thing today. I see it in clubs, and pubs all the time.

I came from Bradford and there are white girls with Asian men.
Hell, my sister married one and never really thought of that until now. The fact that he was a smack, dealing, knife carry, cheating, wife beating psychopath with convictions for ABH on a police officer were more relevant.

Perhaps as significant as its role in combat was Poland's contribution to the Allies' greatest intelligence coup -- deciphering the German military codes generated by the Enigma machine. Only Churchill and a handful of other British officials knew at the time of the Victory Parade that Polish cryptographers had provided the initial breakthrough for cracking Enigma -- with incalculable importance to the outcome of the war.
And what did the Poles want in return? "We wanted Poland back," said Witold Urbanowicz. Throughout the war, Winston Churchill, moved by the Poles' valor, grateful for their help, and horrified by the Nazis' unprecedented savagery in their homeland, promised they would get it. "We shall conquer together or we shall die together," Churchill vowed to the Polish prime minister, General Wladyslaw Sikorski, after the fall of France. Meeting Polish troops as they arrived in England in June 1940, British war secretary Anthony Eden declared: "We shall not abandon your sacred cause and shall continue this war until your beloved country be returned to her faithful sons."
Yet, as the great long line of marchers proceeded down the Mall on that June morning in 1946, and as the crowds cheered and basked in the postwar world's rebirth of freedom, proud Poland remained in the shadows. Despite Eden's pledge, its "sacred cause" had been abandoned by its two closest allies, Britain and the United States. One occupier, Hitler, had been replaced by another Joseph Stalin. And on that gala day, Polish war heroes like Urbanowicz and his follow 303 pilots -- once called "the Glamor Boys of England" -- were forced to stand on London sidewalks and watch.

who was our ALLIES than???????? YOU or Irish?

We are both your allies, just stop listening to Pakistani racists they know nothing about English or Irish history. Pakistan isn't even in the EU and despite the trade agreements we have with them we can't deny that they have ultimately created a terrorists problem around the world.

There will always be people that want to stop unions but the majority definatly want a united Britain and a united european union. Everyone will benefit from it. The fact that your working in England now is proof of it's benefits.

Where is the glory in that after selling us in Jalta and Postdam you ALLOW us to work here??????? How good you are! Not that you had got unemployment etc but you just so generous, oh THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need to open your mind.Like Peterweg said-did you know that Britain declared war on Germany because Germany attacked Poland? So the reason Britain went to war was for Poland, but you don't blame Germany or Russia you blame Britain. Now you are living in Britain and have not yet found your dream job (like many English people) and its all the fault of the evil English. You don't blame Poland for its useless economy or other EU countries for refusing employment to Polish people you blame the country that opened its doors to Polish people and went to war for Poland. If you hate Britain I guess you love the Germans/Soviets even after all they did to Poland.

Magdushya

Thanks for the history lesson. Which we British Poles know because our father/grandfathers were the ones flying the those planes and getting shot to **** in Arnheim.

That does not make any difference to the fact that Britain was utterly powerless to stop Russia keeping control of Poland. The ENTIRE cold war was about what happend to Poland.
Can't you get it into your head? at least Churchill tried to save Poland the US was happy for Russia to have it.
Blame Hitler, Stalin even the US but Britain? they unable to even feed their people.

Treating you like what? If a handful of yobs who have no respect for Poland, you condemn the whole country? That's particularly rich as you expressed admiration for a Polish Hooligan. Britain has treated Polish immigrants as good or better than any other country could. What more do you want ?a free blowjob?

That doesn't make any sense magda, and it seems to me you just like an argument.

If you can tell me what England is doing that is so bad for Poland then maybe people will understand your argument.

The way I see it your in our country, siding with muslims and slagging us off. Your not going to get any support from any one British or Polish.

So you would have preferred that Poland be nuclear bombed in a Soviet - Nato war? Poland was where WW3 would have taken place that the only way Britain could help Poland.

I do beleive I told you what places to go if you wanted to really experience English culture, but instead you have chosen Birmingham, that does not represent England or English people, its a run down hell hole of a city rife with crime and anti social problems. I know all about it, because I used to live there.

I'd rather live in Ukraine than Birmingham. lol

Hey people,

If you are in the UK and don’t like it very much (whether you are British or not) then go somewhere else.

If you are not in the UK and don’t like where you are, go somewhere else.

It’s a big wide world and we are all pretty mobile so just go people.

If you like where you are then stay, party, be friendly and enjoy life.

None of us can overturn history but we can all make things better this time around.

Unless of course you are a man United supporter, in which case after yesterday you can go to the Planet Zog, never to return.

Interpreting and translations (Polish ,Italian), assessing, training and monitoring progress of learners throughout their training programme, offering professional advises for parents and teachers, motivating and working closely with children and young people, as well as providing support to local employers where these young people are gaining experience (Broadmeadow Infant & Nursery School, International Scholl etc.). I earn between 13-18 pounds per hour. How much is per year? CAN somebody understand i'm NOT looking for only the money?????????????Like I've said! lokking for open-minded ppl, friends maybe, I'll will try with another part of country, however i want to polish my Spanish, and I've got some propsitions in Spain. Why my Polish friends, do you go to and try and live in dead cities like Birmingham. Degusting old industrial cities from the early 1900 , where we English would not go for any money!!! Then complain about England being a **** hole. England has lots of **** hole cities and that is why you do not see many English living in them......

I too find her quite funny.

No not a lap dancer, maybe you should try that since you dress like one They didn’t actually do degrees in that when I was at Uni, maybe things have changed.

I also prefer to spend my money on the finer things in life and wouldn’t have the inclination to go to night school to learn about history, I prefer to look forward and not back, maybe you should do the same because looking back isn’t exactly making you happy.
