They manufacture. Trading is buying goods and selling them on. It is not manufacturing. China's GDP was below that of the UK last year. Trading is based on proportion of GDP against import/export. I.e. how much of there GDP was earned by buying and selling on goods.

The USA, as a proportion of its GDP or relative to its population is a very weak. Germany and Japan export something like 3 times as much per person. Britain exports 2.5 per person as the US. US imports 55% more than it exports
