Hello,
I'm disturbed after I have heard a news about Polish people attacked by british people in basingsocke. I also flight to poland verry often ( 1 time / month ) , where I heard a lot of stories about what is happenig in Belfast ( attacks on the polish houses , burning cars, street fights etc...). I know that a lot of british people threats polish people like scum. They think that polish women are sluts and polish man are cheap workers or slaves in uk. And I am really shocked of what is happenig.
And I wonder how will it look in a few years form now?
What do you feel about this? Do you think that this is only a small amount of brit. people being fascist ?
What should we do? Should we act licke Christ and unveil a second cheek ?

/cheers

be upstanding legal citizens, they are brealing the law. report it dont react to it. It will only give them further cause. Its not the answer many here would agree with but stay legal. Do not sink to their level, report it to the authorities. They are mpre sympathetic than you may give them credit for.

Oh Yeah. authorities - police.
Yeah they will help me when somebody offends me or attack me. - for sure.
They will ask me some questions in hospital maybe and they'll close the case because chavs are too young.
Iam half polish/half finnish(finnish father), but I speak polish perfectly and better than uk langage, so I am putting my ass back to tampere soon.
Nobody will attack me because I am polish there.

Anglo-Saxons have always been anti-Slavic. Britain supported the Islamic Ottoman Empire against Chritian Slavs for centuries. After the defeat of the Turkish state, Bulgaria was supposed to have freedom, with most Bulgarians living in ONE state. But Britain didn't agree , so they initiated the return of lands to the Ottoan Empire and created a small Bulgarian principality. Compare the maps:

So don't be suprised. At least you Polish friends can work in Britain. We are not even allowed after we joined EU. Not that we want to...

but on my latest vistit to poland i heard that polish people are being told this by there government to halt the imagration of polish to the uk,
they are being told that they are not welcome in the uk and that they are being picked on. this really is not true the polish are respected as hard workers and loyal members of our society.
my ex whome is polish from gdansk told me that pols are being told these things cos if too many pols imagrate there will be no money for pensions and such alike.
please do the research and make you own minds up.

Oh common people... I only have seen one news abut it and maybe one short article... And government wasn't certainly standing behind it. Again, don't blow everything out of proportion.

And if someone is harrasing you do the christian thing..... and kick the f*****s ass!!!

I think you'll find it's a little bit more complicated than that. The ottoman empire was a major super power across europe, they had to get something of it, what could we do??!.

Britain is far from antislavic, nor is the western world. We have already formed ties with some slavic countries.

The reason Poles are allowed to work here is because we have made an aliance with them. How is letting in millions of Bulgarians going to benefit the English economy? the gap has already been filled by the Poles.

Maybe the Bulgarians should go to the Spanish, although from what I hear the Spanish priminister is already in talks with Poland about a relationship similar to what Poland and the UK have. :-D

If you're so pro slavic yourself then shouldn't you call yourself a slav and not a bulgar?

you r quite right mate.all this bad news are exposed so everyone in poland could know them.If you read some polish news websites or read some polish newspapers then you may have noticed that all the news about polish people in the uk are bad. never they say that someone has a good life up here.the polish government tries hard to stop us going abroad.that's why they have created a profile of a typical pole in the uk-poor,exploited toilet cleaner.wrong.most of us made it and have a good life here.another thing-racist attack on poles.this may be a problem in the northern ireland because the poles ther were caught in something what was going on there for ages-religious tensions were always there.I've lived in the for a few years and never encountered any hostility.we,poles in the uk,don't always behave like we are suppose to.we live in somebody else's country so that we are suppose to act like guests and try to mix up with locals-not everyone does it.lastly,in spite of such a great numbers of poles arriving to the uk every day we only had a few a few drunken fights in the last few years.i think it shows that we get on quite well .

dragging out sopmething what happend in the last century leads to nowhere.times are different now most of countries are very different to what they were 100-200years ago.don't blame britain for the current situation.what can u say about countries like france, austria, belgium, holland ect which didn't open their borders to the eastern european workers at all?had they done it the situation would have been much better and great britain wouldn't have to cope with such a great number of immigrants on her own.
cheers

Polish Workers Exploited in Ireland

20 Polish workers who say they were underpaid, exploited and finally fired, took the situation into their own hands last week when they stayed a protest at the entrance to Athlone Town Center site. Eastern Europeans are starting to find their feet and their voice and are willing to join representative bodies. They’re not afraid to take action to expose exploitation. The polish workers were paid 5.50 per hour under the minimum 14.71 per hour for construction work.
A meeting is scheduled for to-morrow (Monday)

These Polish men have been working since last August. Now they demand equal pay and they are fired. In the meantime, complaints have been filed with the union and it has taken 6 months for the case to be heard. Who do you think will replace these Polish workers?? Probably non Europeans willing to accept low wages.

The Scottish Elections are coming in May 2007 and there is a campaign to get all of the community, including Polish to vote.

I posted this to offset all the negativity that is heard on the board about immigrant workers etc etc. This is an example of how we are encouraging new arrivals to be part of the Scottish community.
Scotland has a declining population. A declining workforce means a declining amount of taxpayers. A lack of taxpayers means a lack of public money. Lack of public money means all sorts of problems.

Cuda swore tomorrow was Sunday...but there ya go.....

Yup, if you aint joined a union or know your rights you will be discriminated by a fairly hefty percentage of private firms...sometimes public, they all want to mkae a bigger profit or make a saving....no surprises!

This has been highlighted in my local paper against a local employer......who also did the same against the local indigenous popluation 20yrs ago......no surprises...so please don't feel that Polish workers are being treated any differently to the local Irish/other migrant populations!!!!

They just happen to be less world weary as to how they can be taken advantage of.....

Lesson of the day, join a union......a good one, do some research, be sure of your rights....as I am and do.....and I 've lived here all my life...still expect to get shafted my current employers though!!!!!
