British Pole moving to MA

Hey!
Am born and raised in England by Polish parents and am moving to MA in the next month or so. I read, write and speak Polish, used to be in Harcerstwo (did my Pod Hm.) and was also in a small zespol taneczny when I was younger so would like to get involved in the Polonia in and around Boston. I am a Child Psychologist and I work primarily with children with special needs, mainly autism.

Are there any Christian Poles?

Lidia

That is absolutely wrong. A huge percentage of Poles are Church going Catholics. Some like Maati are atheists. And we have 40,000 jews. Not to mention a small group of Polish Muslims.

Depends what you mean by Christian, do you mean Protestant or some other denomination or any type of Christian.

Ireland.........the cradle of catholiscm in Western Europe....for 60 odd years, the population, gradually got educated, cracks began to appear in the facade of respectability of the clergy, too many priests had extra curricualr affairs, then the whole child abuse issue, people realised they were the equal of these men, then they got wealthy.............now in one generation......catholiscm is for the old, the less fortunate and the poor..........

They actually date this decline to the visit of Pope John Paul II in 1979........

Fast forward to Poland 2004.......into the EU.....one generation later........2029...who knows!

We will leave the EU, and stop outside influenced before that happens. Actually the churches in Ireland have been refilled with Parishoners since the Poles moved in.

It a club that everyone wants to be a member of and if you're not a member then you're an outsider....would you prefer Poland to go back to communism??

Its the old story when people have it bad they turn to god, when they have it good they don't need god, hmmmmmmmm shows how strong there faith has been in the first place.

From my experience being in poland, I've noticed that young people have rebelled against the church, and just laugh at the thought of going to mass on sunday.
These changes will impact on crime and the divorce rate.. countries like oz have a 50% divorce rate...mmmmmmmmm more homes on the market!

Miss Lidia,

I moved to the US from Poland when I was 2 years old. I am still fluent in Polish and visit Poland regularly. I went to college in Boston and now I am finishing law school in Boston. So I guess I am a Bostonite. There is some Polonia in Massachusetts. There is a small community in the Boston area. Look at this polish restauraunt!

cafepolonia.com/

Anyway in general there are not too many Polish in MA. We try to stick together though. I have a few Polish friends and we go out together all the time. Where are you going to be in MA? Let me know if you have any more questions. I am interested, I have never met a British raised Polish person!

Is the Polish restaurant any good? I miss my mum's great pierogi and golabki....... though I can make them myself...... Mama's cooking is always heaps better!

As for never met a British raised Polish person...... I am not sure there is anything special about being a Brit...... (apart from having a lousy government!) but my other personalities do classify me as being relatively normal......

So Boston Rules....... as for other questions........what is Cape Cod like? What age range are you in?..........do you have a name?.............. would you like to chat on Yahoo massanger sometime?

L.

The Polish restaurant is good. Clearly, home cooked Polish food is much better.

Cape Cod is very beautiful. I was there this summer. You can drive to the tip of the cape or you can take a ferry from Boston. Even people from California admit the beaches there are gorgeous.

I am 26 years old. I do have a name. I wouldn’t mind chatting with you and answering all your questions. Unfortunately, my friend recently got scammed on the internet. So, I am not all about posting my name or address or telephone number on the internet.

I don’t use yahoo messenger. I use AOL instant messenger. I can always create a yahoo messenger though. Anyway, you should post an e-mail address and I can send you my info to the e-mail address. Worst case let me know your yahoo messenger name and when you plan on being signed on. I can just sign on and message you.

Talk to you soon
