The British workers denied jobs because they can't speak Polish

Totally agree, every day they seem to stirrup some racial stuff and blow it out of all proportion. Just ignore this dribble!!!!

The tabloids in general are not even worth wiping the nether regions with, let alone reading!

Okay, Im not supporting the papers, but lets say there is a bit of truth in it, the thread has focused on where it was published and only a couple of people have actually got on to that fact that there is a possibilty that it has happened....As an English person Im pretty disgusted with it, we are living in a multicultural society which is brilliant, but as an English person I find it pretty sad that English people are being discounted from jobs in their homeland because they do not speak Polish...To me it pretty rediculous because most if not all Polish people come to England to improve their language skills.

I don't read the newspapers, but then with 24 hours rolling news channels and the Internet a newspaper tends to be obsolete when its printed.

well, it happens all the time - take a look at jobs ads, often communicative English is a must :-) but it's a bit different, because English is international language :]

Do you meant by those 'our own views' those spread by the psychopaths and liars of the Daily Mail and Mr Moss's ilk?

This is an isolated case that has been blown up out of all proportion; you cannot make a generalization from this dribble.
I come from the south of England, this happens all the time on the strawberry farms there, and it is common sense... if you get a group of French people then they work together, if you get a group of Polish, they will work together and so on. And, as an “English person" I would never be bothered to bite to this racially motivated dribble. In closing I would say just keep it proportion when you read stuff like this, because as I said in another post “Newspapers like this take the minority and try to turn it into the majority”

Amongst my friends the 'Daily Mail' is known as the 'Hate Mail'. They take a tiny little bit of hate and blow it out of all proportion. Yes, every English person would hate to be turned down from a job because they couldn't speak Polish. Was it pointed out to them that most (perhaps not all) English people wouldn't want the job in the first place?

I am thinking not.

This problem is a general racist problem, but with a grain of truth. The amasing thing I find is the reaction of the 'average' polish person to the much more recent wave of Slovak labour that has arrived in the country. (Southern England is my perspective on this). The Polish reaction is a lot more hate filled than the English reaction to the Polish.

I am not speaking of an individual against another individual, but of a general community feeling.

ive noticed that too.. many Poles who have been here a while are very agressive towards immigrants from newer member EU states (and others).. of course it is understandable in a way as it means more competition for jobs and being undercut by people prepared to work for less money.

Give her a chance, she may not go through her computer every day or have access to one for that matter.

This is yesterdays news. Newspapers will publish headline grabbing stories just to sell their paper. The UK has had a very buoyant economy for nearly 10 years now . Any sensible person will see that in the UK we have benefited with people coming here from all over the world and filling job vacancies that would otherwise remain empty. This is how the world works today - people are free to travel, live, and work much easier than even 10 years ago. In time and in Poland you will see large scale immigration too.

More like emigration. In comparison to somewhere like Australia, I would not think twice where I would rather live. After all, 600,000 Poles can not be wrong in wanting to leave their beloved homeland.

Maybe we should have some sort of points system in this country too. Only Polish people who have Cambridge Proficiency could apply to come here. That would certainly cut down the numbers a bit. Mind you, they would soon find ways of printing certificates and offering them for sale. If they can produce any passport they could do the same with an educational certificate.
