Polish food is wonderful , but are you missing something really special from back home...? For me it was Heinz beans , and Yorkshire relish.... My sister came to the rescue by finding a UK company that sends good old English grub anywhere in the world... Check it out , i just had a parcel today and i am enjoying beans on toast , my favorite meal The company is britishcornershop.co.uk

My wife and my 5-year-old daughter bless them, have been secretly making something for the last week and this morning I found out what it is.

I went downstairs early this morning at 5am before anyone was awake and in the kitchen were mince pies and a Christmas pudding.

Finding my inner strength to resit my temptation to devour them all there and then, I dragged myself back to bed salivating as I went, (I must have looked like some rabid monster walking up the stairs)

I am constantly surprised by this wonderful woman I call my wife :O)

but mince pies? ...ooow...

and christmas pudding with double cream ...

or chipolatas wrapped in streaky bacon ....

my mum swears she sent me a christmas cake (good old Lakeland ...) but, alas, nothing so far ...

Just a thought, what Scottish Christmas food do you miss?
I know the haggis shooting season is open, but is there any difference in Scottish food to English at Christmas :O)

- Somebody could make good money by opening an English food shop and e.g. real English pub in Poland, don't you think? Hm, I know one Polish guy who may be interested in doing it... I won't tell you his nick.

You know I thought about this once in student's town in Lublin, a good heart attack bacon and eggs breakfast menu, along with Sheppard's pie for dinner :O)

You can buy baked beans in Poland too and I cook pies myself so don't need a shop where I can buy them.
I hate mince pies and Christmas pudding so don't miss them at all.

The only thing I miss is not the British stuff but the extensive collection of oriental/asian spices and condiments although some hypermarkets now have a small selection of foreign foods.

And of course all the vegetarian stuff such as tofu and quorn. I love quorn but can't get it anywhere.

Marks and Spencer (in Złoty Taras, Warsaw) have small (but growing) food hall - with mince pies!!, and 'Kuchnie Świat on the lowest level of Złoty Taras has a British foods section (also US, Aus, NZ, RSA). They even sell Bitter Lemon, Custard, Golden Syrup.
