Bulgaria is the cheapest holiday destination in Europe, a new study shows, as cited by the Independent.

UK company Post Office carried out the research to compare relative prices across the world, as the British pound has recently got much weaker against other currencies.

In the study Bulgaria is flagged up as highly affordable location and is said to be the cheapest destination in the whole of Europe, just ahead of Turkey.

The results come out after a recent similar research by Teletext Holidays found the cost of food and drink in places such as Sofia is much less than in many other European cities.

A pint of beer and a Big Mac costs just GBP 1.49 in Bulgaria, making it the world's best value holiday hotspot for Brits, the survey claimed.

Of course not that we don't want you here but maybe there are also other interesting places...

Ah, Grzegorz is looking after our best interests after all. Now that we can't afford Poland then we should consider Bulgaria and not just for cheap skiing. Stag party in Sofia anyone? Er that's the capital city not the club in Warsaw. Not that I've ever been to that club in Warsaw. You just hear about these places dont you <cough>

i once had a look at the properties in bulgaria and found that for less than £200,000 you can get a VILLA with a seaview and 4 bedrooms, living and dining room, play rooms, 3 bathrooms, swimming pool. there was some more features to it, i just can`t remember it all but it was stunning.

Hmmm... I spend all day working with the radio on, and it seems like every 5 mins, there's an advert urging us punters to invest in property there. I'd be put off on that basis alone, as I imagine that it would be too much like the holiday on the costa blanca that I had with the inlaws a couple of years ago... every conversation that I overheard in bars and cafes was about property and how many concrete boxes nowhere near the sea other folk owned <yawn>
