Yes but the thread refers to Poland and not the UK. It doesn't change the fact that their chocolate is really good, does it?

But it refers to an English company who have down sized in the UK in order to move operations to Poland, which isnt good for those that have generations of family working for Cadburys - whole families were put out of work, so whole families in Poland can have jobs...Not really really on is it?

...are being stalked by the US based Kraft company who keep launching bids for Cadburys.

The Royal Bank of Scotland - 80% owned by HMGovernment.

When you put it that way, it's not good, no. It is a proud British tradition and I can tell you, Amathyst, that Poland isn't anything like as much a chocolate eating country as the UK is.

TM, I like chocolate but rarely eat it.

Before you all start wetting your pants.... take it from an ex employee of cadburys,
The euro spec for chocolate is not the same as in the UK, hence the quality on the continent is shite. . . . ENOUGH SAID !

bulltish, cadbury chocolate was once good, its not even made from cacao anymore, suggest you try some german chocolate and then making a comment, (try aldi's store) or try some swiss chocolate.

Yup hundreds of Pole's are no longer working in Cadubury's UK plant, instead their cousins are doing their jobs in Poland for a quarter of the cash. That's capitalism, that's the free market.

Brit - US - Japanese ownership in a year.

E. Wedel has been bought by the Japanese Lotte group. They will take on the E Wedel brand, 1000 or so employees and the plant in Warsaw.

The Cadbury, Hall's and some other small brands along with 2 plants in Skarbimierz will stay with Kraft. Kraft also wish to hold on to another plant in Bielany Wroclawskie but need EU approval.

Looks like good news for Poland as Lotte are the 3rd largest maker of gum in the world and will use Wedel as a way to break into Europe.
