Hello
I am a UK citizen and my next employer has recommended I open a 'dzialnosz godpodarka'. He didn't elaborate too much on this as we will speak about it in January but I am curious to know what it is. Google has not thrown up any searches.

Thanks

It's basically a registered sole trader. The good side is that you pay a flat rate tax of 19% and for the first two years a lower rate ZUS (about 250zl per month). Then it goes up to about 800zl per month for ZUS. The bad thing is that you have to pay that ZUS even if you do no business at all in a month and also need to file taxes regardless. Oh, and you are personally liable with all of your assets for any debts of the company.

Thanks for that.

But as I will be employed by this company, is it just a convenient way for him to put the tax onus on me?

My two previous employers (universities in Wroclaw and Krakow) did not mention 'dzialnosz godpodarka'.

I am also curious to know what I should be doing with the inland revenue in the UK as I am usually embraced with a vacant stare when I ask about my status...

I have spent a total of 2 years in Poland.

You won't be an employee anymore. You will be a company.
