Fees/tax on importing Computer from US

I am comparing price between buying computer in EU and shipping one from the US. Can anyone confirm that the the only fees with importing the computer will be the 22% VAT? I could have someone bring the computer over for me, but I want to import legally so that I may declare the expense on my company. Any advice is helpful, I have searched and only found leads that suggest the 22% and maybe an additional 7%, but nothing specific for computers.

Buy it in the US, but have it shipped to a friend/family member in the US. That person can open the packaging and send you the computer listed as a GIFT on the customs declaration. This will help you bypass the sales tax.

Whether it is a gift or not, the tax will be exactly the same.

Don't bother: the form you need to fill in to get the VAT back is about 30 pages long. And importing from the EU is a pain in the arse too.
Really, just make a shortlist of the computers you want and then hit both www.ceneo.pl and allegro to see who is doing the best price and giving a faktura VAT: there's certain to be some guy in Bialystok or Radom or somewhere else in Poland B who is happy to go through the hassle of importing and adding a small amount on for his time (it's certain to be less than you'd want to do the same amount of work).

Harry: Bialystok or Radom or somewhere else in Poland B Do you have to help perpetuate this dreadful Poland B moniker Harry? I work in B.Stok and I reckon you might be surprised if you came and had a look for yourself. There have been big, positive changes in the last few years. I know this is off-topic but I felt the need to stick up for the East.

I actually very much like the east of Poland. Not been to Bialystok but have travelled pretty extensively around the central and southern parts of the east of Poland. Did a trip round the place every year for the last three years and will be going again next month (a week in Wlodawa and then a few days in Lublin) and again in August (five days in Zamosc).

However, you must agree that wages are lower there (and life is cheaper).

I wouldn't say that life is very much cheaper here, but wages are certainly lower for most. There's a new block of flats in the centre with places going for 6300PLN per metre. I know you'd pay a lot more in the capital but these places are selling, which shows that there are quite a few people doing quite nicely around these parts. Check out photos of what they've done with the Rynek; nothing B about that.

In Warsaw you pay about 12zl for a beer in the Old town square and nine is about the average. In Lublin it's 6zl on the OT square and five is about the average. Zamosc is five on the square (and a far superior pint too).

New stuff in the centre here starts at about 11,000 per metre (but that's only for big apartments) and goes up 20,000!
