Food deliveries in Poland

Hi all, I'm new here :) I'm making a research about the food market in Poland. I was wondering if anyone can help me in answering some simple questions. 1) is food home-delivery popular in Poland? If so in what cities? 2) how many restaurants out of 10 would you say deliver? 3) what kind of food is popular for delivery? is takeaway popular? Thanks in advance for your answers!

1) What type of food? 2) what type of restaurants? 3) ??????????? You can get most types of food delivered in the big towns, may I ask why you are asking?

I get some good Chinese food from a place called Fantastico. 14zł plus the second dish for 9zł. Some really good food which gets delivered quite quickly. Poland is quite effective for delivering food. They operate cheap vehicles or even bicycles to get their food to you.

I disagree. Here in Gliwice, there is a joint specifically named 2Go. It makes oriental food. Most places offer delivery and carry out/take away options. They even have their own cars with their logos. Telepizza has mopeds/scooters and guys on bikes delivering pizzas.

I completely and utterly disagree. Here in Warsaw there are two companies which specialise in delivering food from restaurants. One of them is www.roomservice.pl, it offers food from about 50 restaurants in the city. There are also a couple of Chinese and Indian 'restaurants' which don't even have restaurants where you can sit and eat: all they do is deliver!

No it doesn't, it is insulated in transit.

In Krakow there are very small outlets with fast Chinese food in them, you can get chicken with noodles or chicken with rice. 10Zl and some nut,sweet or spicy sauce, they are relatively new and not bad after a few pints.

Absolutely! Even the pizza places are branching out and embracing diversity. Just recently, Dominium Pizza introduced a few Chinese dishes to their menu. As I said above, Fantastico already do this. As for delivery, Da Grasso and Bombola have their own pizza cars. I guess many others do to. Telepizza have private drivers.

Vietnamese kiosks? Almost all of them have been shut down in Warsaw. :-( On the subject of deliveries, even KFC here delivers!

There is a Vietnamese place here but I don't know if they deliver. It's not a kiosk. I miss those takoyaki (octopus balls) kiosks in Japan. I generally miss kiosk food. Gliwice has many delivery places. Only smaller items like kebabs don't get delivered.

Harry: Vietnamese kiosks? I don't know if they are Vietnamese, they do the whole Chinese kitsch decor thing. They are called "Asia to go" and more are opening up. It is literally just two woks with the food on it them. Pizza delivery is popular here on occasion not like in Norway where it has become the staple diet.

There's one just round the corner from my flat, I've only been in there once and was seriously underwhelmed then. It's not helped by the fact that three minutes' walk away is a Vietnamese place which is so good that often white faces are in the minority there.

The same here, Seanny. 2 woks dishing up a whole lotta good food. The menu is very impressive and is likely available online. They have 3 kinds of meat: chicken, pork and beef in order of cost. They also have some good prawn stuff.

I'm not from Poland, but DAMN I would like to have an option to order some kisiel. Right now I have to order it from Estonia (my brother lives there and they have it) and you can't buy it here in Serbia. My mom made it for us when we were kids, but now we don't go to Poland so often. Such a simple but delicious thing, that kisiel :)

I don't know of any good Chinese places in Krakow. Sure there are lots of so called Chinese restaurants but it is Polish Chinese food, if you know what I mean. And very poor quality, tasteless but big and cheap. If anyone knows of a place, let me know as I wouldn't mind some Asian food every now and again.

I'm kinda relieved to hear so many people disagree with me. I suppose its good news, because its always a business avenue to pursue. I was under the impression that people would rather eat-in then takeaway.

However I still think that (even with food insulators) the freezing cold would not make food last too long for deliveries. This would have to force deliveries to be fast I suppose.

But what about drivers...Give an employee a scooter and a pizza to deliver (within X km of base). This wouldn't work on highly snowy roads like we had recently. From a legal perspective, if a employee on a scooter slipped crashed and killed himself, then that would be the end of that business, and myself as a potential entrepreneur/owner.

People do not eat out as much as some other countries, I agree.

They clear the roads and they do do it.
