What do you think about the Gerlach company?

www.gerlach.com.pl am thinking to do business with them. how do you know them and their products? workable company with workable people? quality? prices? they claim they are very old and very quality, but, i dont see them and their products in this region. what do ordinary poles think about this company and their products?

I have a bit of Gerlach in the kitchen. Good quality, a bit pricey. The brand is decent here, but I think it's pretty much unknown outside of Poland, you'd have to build the brand.

It has always been known as the best knife maker in Poland. Don't know about their present reputation, but I would suppose solid.

are you able to see their web sites on your browser? it is usually not working here.

I'll tell you only that we use their stuff in our family for generations, the same stuff :-) They surely had good quality, not sure how it is now. PS. I have no problems with their website

1jola: It has always been known as the best knife maker in Poland. I have an old Gerlach packet knife (about 30years) with some handy, little tools on it. I'm sure it will outlive me, if i don't lose it first...I hope the company is still just as good :)

Still, I can't view their website. I read it before. 250 years old company. can't be bad..
I find such very old companies very attractive. It is like a cellar where you can find a couple of very old bottles of wine under a mysteriously hidden door on the ground. It is also like a crypt where you can hear the scream of history through the walls. As if you work with siluets..

Ok, it seems that you have good impressions about their products. It will be interesting to do busyness with them. But, I can't view them website. I need email of their president. Can you look at their web site and post his/her email address please? Thanks.

maybe try another browser, the site has a lot of flash content.

oh no. i cant install another browser just for their website. it is not understandable why these such old companies with famous names do flash things. not professional at all. (you see his/her email of their president on their web site?)

Drzewica? Just looked at google map, it is very close to Radom. Ok. I see. No email. Eh, presidents, normal, unreachables. I don't prefer to call these phones cause probably a secretary or two will answer. I prefer direct communication. Maybe, I need to write to their Foreigner Trade Office.

Wrote them, talked them on the phone. As I guessed, secretaries are answering and they aren't giving his email address of their president. Either secretaries are protecting these presidents or presidents are hiding themselves behind females. Secretaries asking me what business project offer I have. Why shall I tell to them? Females aren't trustables.. Presidents knowing this probably, but, they are like kids who are hiding themselves behind their moms. Still their web sites not working on my site. His email address is given on their web site?

I find it quite sweet that you really expected to get a direct contact to the president of the company. He has no idea who you are and what you want, why would he want to talk to you? Also they have a Foreign Trade Office which is there to deal with exactly what you are looking to do...so why bother the president? Do you think he has all the books on your market and prospective other clients lying on his desk? No he has an entire other department to deal with that.

I love the word trustables, I am going to use that in future! However this attitude to women in the workplace is wayyy off and isn't going to do you any favours.

All in all I would say that if you want to do business with a company, you need to put in the effort to find about them, go through the right channels to get what you need and respect any cultural diffferences that there may be between your country and theirs (i am not sure where you are from, apologies)...then you'll be all set. There's no easy quick fix here I'm afraid.

The president of a company might not be the person you want to talk to. E-mail your query and they will contact you. This is not a mom and pop shop.

It is not their work to make a web site viewable, but, it is the work of this nomad who has to open theirs that they close the borders. Visa logic on the internet? Where shall I apply to get the visa to enter their web site?

Indeed, presidents must be very busy. It is not easy to gather info through the females who disinfect, distory, twist the info given. Team work!

I can talk through other members of team, but, am affraid that minds of poor members of the team may get blown when they hear the amount of money. I guess presidents, getting much much better money than other team members, are used to language of big money. Hence, I prefer to communicate with the presidens. Actually, I prefer to communicate with the owners directly, but, they hiding themselves better than presidents.

Cultural differences? These presidents aren't humans? Don't get this.

Or they are trained sales staff who are used to dealing with large orders and overseas clients and so would be able to offer you all the advice and information you needed.

So really by contacting the president you are introducing an unnecessary middle man.

You don't walk into a restaurant and ask that you are served by, your wine is selected by and your food cooked by the owner.

Presidents, are getting much better salaries just to say such things? Full comedy!

Aside this, these presidents are probably strategists, whatever that means.. I don't think their foregin managers can do anything without consulting presidents, especially when it is about a market where they don't exist..

Of course they are strategists, and yes, a company president does deal with the day to running of the company on behalf of the CEO. However as a first point of contact, the president is not the guy to be speaking to, and if you do get through to him you will be promptly told to go through the appropriate channels. Obviously you should be aiming high and you don't want to talk to a sales assistant, but if you aim too high it looks equally unprofessional. Talk to a foreign sales manager first, if it is a new emerging market then s/he will talk to the president about opening a new market and they will get back to you depending on how viable they see the opportunity.

His foreign sales manager is a woman. Don't trust women!.. They are taking from me and giving to presidents. As presidents got this bad habit of gaining somethings easily, they keep sending women to me to reply my emails. It is ok you sent one, useless, but, this president keeps sending other women instead of talking work like a man.. Maybe, he trusting women, but, this not trusting women. Hence, lack of communication as women are being used.. by these presidents who are still kids. These male kids can't grow even at very old ages.. Walking through their communication channels before talking with him? Whats that? We will play games?

Can I just ask what country you are based in? Your unabashed mistrust in women could really hit your business ideas hard when trying to deal with European companies.

For the same work, women are paid 59% of wage of a man wage.

World capitals owned in world: 90% by males and 10% by females. In developed countries :(where were you in? Europe?), these numbers are 88% and 12% while, in underdeveloped countries, it is 92% and 8%. Big! difference..

Eh, whole world will not know how untrustable women are and this poor nomad will know!?

Btw, this company above is owned by a woman, but, president is a male. Haven't got any response from president yet. Maybe, he resigned, who knows..
