but the local paper and there are usuall lots of businesses advertised in the classifieds. Often a bit vague in their description (eg you can't tell from the advert if it is a small shop, cafe or bar) but you can tell it is a business, and you have to phone up. Estate agents tend not to deal in commercial property to the same extent as in UK etc

hope that helps

Check out krn.pl and gumtree.pl - current leasees usually advertise there. There are more and more adverts of this kind appearing - everyone is feeling the downturn and the tourists just aren't coming so you should be able to negotiate a good deal on the 'odstępne'.

You're welcome! It's not just "the season" - from what I hear, there are fewer tourists overall. The boom of the noughties is over...

Could be the breathing space Krakow needs to shake off the "Boozed up Brits " party destination image it was starting to get?
I hope so,Im a Brit, and I enjoyed a Vodka or six on many a pleasant night out round the rynek in the early noughties but have avoided returning in over five years down to a certain reputation the place ,and my countrymen, was getting.

It seems that the Brits always fall for the tourist traps. Take the town where I live. Tarnów is small, 120,000 people, but, the "Rynek" has more bars than you can get around in a night. Hotel and beer prices are less than half that of Kraków, clubs are good and the women are as beautiful as you will find anywhere in Poland.
When I go on holiday, South of France or Italy, I never stay in the resorts, always a short drive away, whatever you spend on taxis/transport is always rewarded in savings, and, you spend your night with the locals, not 1000's of other tourists.
Some friends from England came to visit me for 10 days a couple of months ago. Their exact words were "This is a secret that nobody knows about", they loved this place so much that they did not even want to visit Kraków. A good restaurant just off the "Rynek", 2 course meal with Waiter/waitress sevice, 17 zloty, "plat de jour" if you want it in French. After living here for 8 years, even I flinch at paying the prices in Kraków.
If you want to go to somewhere like "Venice", go!!!!......40 euros for a boatride into the city and a cup of coffee, wonderfull, but how many times would you go back there.
Maybe I have lived in Poland for too long, 3.5 euros for a beer on a campsite in the South of France or 1.20 euros for a "PINT" of beer in Bratislava, the same as in TarnówI would like to promote Poland, not fill the pockets of the greedy. Tell the people the truth!!!!!

You can get beer for half price outside the tourist centre in Krakow, its a choice.

a few years ago my friends came to visit from Canada. We happened to see a bunch of Brits puking on the monument just outside of the sukienice. shocking.

I have seen that show "boozed up britains abroad" wow!!! I think my favourite was the Bratislava episode.
