From Poland to Asia (India): Cargo or shipping at a cheap cost?

Hi,

I would like to transport my personal items around 30-40 kgs from Poland to Asia (India), is there anyone who knows a method of sending such things?
Fed ex is expensive for me and those cargo shipping are good, but it is taking long.

So if there is anyone having knowledge regarding this kind of small items sending goods at a nominal price, please do write in this thread. I'll be glad.

Hi 123,

This will be personal effect shipping and will be probably shipped LCL (left cargo load) means in combination with other stuff.

You have 2 ways of transporting this items:

- by plane (most expensive)
- by vessel (longest route +/- 25-30 days)

Give me the dimension and I will check it out which ways of transportation is the best.
I just to work for DB Schenker and I know a lot about transportation.

Also check your travel agency, for far trips sometimes they allow you to take more kg as usual with a smaller fee to be paid.

Hi riki rwanda,

Thansk for the reply. I dont knwo about the dimension. I am guessing that my things all together could be around 2 feet wide and 4 feet lenght with about 2 feet high.

Here i have some questions-
1. If vessel take long, do you have any idea how is the customs duty when it reach port? like how many days can it stay in port? or they will delivered my package in my address here?

2.Is it possible to share a container for free (as a friend suggested i put my things with his 40 kgs equipement which he want to send from Poland to Nepal, and transit in Mumbai or Kolkata where my things can be take out in transit )is there any possible chance like this?

I'll be very glad if a nominal price for sending my stuff is work out.

1. customs duty are to be paid in the country of arrival, depends of each country - normally should be duty free, check below link ( to be sure once cargo method is chosen, double check)

http://www.cbec.gov.in/customs/cs-act/formatted-htmls/cs-rulef.htm

2. share free??? does he owns the container?? or did he charter a FCL container, if not can't be for free.
You can off course share the container, but please note that NEPAL has no trading agreement with India, so you should make a T1 document in Nepal, before entering India, but will not be duty free.

If i have to make T1 document all the way in Nepal, then i think it is more of a hassle.
In your opinion should i just dropped the idea to share with this friend, cos it now sound more complicated? Let me kno wwhat do you think?

So can you tell me what will be the best way and the cheap /nominal price to send my stuff? My friend there can handle it if require packaging etc.
