I will have a go then... I think that deep down a Russian want's to be considered european by the rest of Europe and not as some savage from Asia. And if Europeans disagree than he will make them change their minds. What do you think Kostia?

I think, we don't care what europeans think about:

1. Who Russians are
2. Which roots they have
3. Russians' appearance
4. Russians' living
5. Russians attitude to "european democracy" etc.

...and so on and so on

Why? Because God is on our side and we are his beloved children! We can wish some goods from the West, but you should firmly remember....we hate you and we despise you burningly!!!

I don't think the Russians want to be European. Hate is a strong word CK. However, I think we need Russia as a counterbalance. Russia sides with Iran and Venezuela, considered as enemies by Washington. However, I see an escalation of conflict if John McCain gets into power. He's a hardliner and the kinda guy that may follow through on his words.

I wonder if McCain and Putin could maintain a smily face for that long in each other's company

I do not want to say that we hate Poland or France or England, but that we hate the "West" as collective charracter...

As for me, I wish McCain will win, because sure enough it will be the real disaster for west with its "family values"!

Rivals in what? Whatever happened to cooperation? Between EU states, there is rivalry. It's healthy to have rivals as u know what u r up against and have benchmarks/yardsticks.

I take issue with ur other point. What do u object to in this stock phrase? I'm not the biggest defender of family values as interpreted by governments as they put a conservative spin on it. However, at a societal level, u bet ur bottom dollar I have some family values.

Yeah, when sb says I'm X no of pounds, it always sounds better than 105kgs. I'm of heavy build but still 105kgs sounds bad.

As for the superiority of Europeans and American domination, of course you are right, although one does seem a change happening in this respect. Nevertheless, it is more about the concept, rather than about the real power of Europe these days. Just like it was with the concept of Roman and Byzantine empire.

Ohh, and I feel obligated to write that when I wrote European I didn't mean Poland. We've been objects of the big politics for the last 300 years, so that pretty much excludes us in this issue. Not that Poland doesn't lie in Europe.

That is what I wanted to say. All these "family values" and "war with terrorism", these are the "real facts" from the same trunck. Your government feeds it to you and you are chewing it obediently!

It is rather sad, reminds me of the children that would rather opt for negitive attention than just being part of the group.

Why is it that so many country's have to babysit Russia? It is such a waste of time and Russia could be a positive for Europe's "civilzed world", if only they would give up trying to rule the world.
