Central Wings cancel certain flights to Poland

Hi

If you have booked with Central Wings it may be worth checking their website as they have redeuced their flights to Poland. Our flight from Manchester to Gdansk in July has been cancelled and is no longer operated by Central Wings. We are now flying in on BMI Baby from East Mindlands.

They don't fly into Poznan anymore either. Most are just out of Warsaw.

I wonder if they are struggling against Wizz, which is (if you'll pardon the pun) really taking off at the mo.

do you really think so? I wouldnt fly with them unless it were free..they dont have the best reputation for leaving on time.

Well, they seem to be expanding the number of routes.

I actually had a bad experience with CW in October: I was in Warsaw on business, and Mr LC came and joined me for the weekend, then we were to fly back on the Sunday.

While I was in a meeting on the Saturday morning, Mr LC got a call from CW saying that our 6pm flight had been put back until 9pm. I never received such a call, and I was frantically calling them to find out what was going on... whether I'd been put on a different flight etc. Nobody at the call centre knew what was going on, and it was only at 10pm that night that I received a call to let me know that my flight had been put back until 9pm too.

It all seemed rather last minute and the words "p1ss up" and "brewery" sprung to mind - but hey, we managed to spend the extra time with friends in Warsaw.

We are coming back in to Doncaster via Wizz. If that flight is delayed we won't really mind as long as we are not too delayed going out :-)

its showing on skyscanner.net for certain dates in July because myself and friends were looking at them yesterday.., just double checked and they are still showing.

Strange that .. as i flew to Wroclaw in february with wizzair and landed 25 mins ahead of landing time and coming home i arrived 10mins ahead of schedule

well it is almost as bad to arrive early as it is late, especially if you have people meeting you. Better that they try to stick to the scheduled time.

Centralwings are a nightmare! I understand that flying with a budget airline problems are part of the course but they really excel themselves. I once had a twelve hour delay with all ground staff scarpering after a few minutes and no way of finding out what was going on. All we were told was we can't leave the airport as things can change at any minute.....12 hours later we took off!
My wife had a flight delayed by 10 hours to London, she lost a whole day out of a 3 day trip. We have also been phoned up twice to be told our flights are cancelled and we can get on a plane a day earlier or a day later.
We reported them to the Polish aviation authority but had the usual 10 months of bull ending with a letter saying 'not our fault so go f@ck yourselves!' (ok, it didn't quite say that but that was the jist of the letter). I also wrote to them to complain about the seating of two completely drunk passengers in the emergency exit seats and I mean paralitically drunk oafs, a Polish guy with his Scottish girlfriend! This was on the twelve hour delayed flight and that pair spent the whole twelve hours getting trashed at the airport This letter received no response at all. Disgrace!

After reading that, FinT, I am glad they cancelled the flights and we are now going with BMI and coming back with Wizz!

Totally agree.

I've had no problems with Ryan Air, in fact I fly a lot with them - but they don't do a direct flight from Stansted (or any of the London airports) to Warsaw.

Thats been my experience, gave me a booking reservation but not a seat !

Much prefer Wizz Air - no problems.

I live in Poland and have had the misfortune to travel with Centralwings nearly 12 times. Every single one of those flights was delayed at least 2 hours or cancelled outright with little or no notice. Fuel might be expensive, the parent company may not be supportive, landing charges might have gone up but the fact remains that Centralwings is the most appalling airline I've ever ever travelled on and that's the real reason it's going bust. Do not, repeat do NOT book a seat on this airline.

I have travelled with them nearly 3 times (ie 4 flights). You are just unlucky. None of my flights were late or cancelled... Which airport did you travel to/from?

Has anyone flown to Manchester with Central Wings recently?

I have a flight booked (Krakow to Manchester) for the end of June but all recent reports suggest that they are about to go bankrupt. It seems they've cancelled all flights to Manchester without informing the passengers. Furthermore, it's impossible to contact Central Wings customer service as their call centre is out of reach and they don't reply via email.. ARRRGH!

I also didn't buy insurance with this flight. Does anyone know if it's possible to claim a refund if the airline cancel flights?

My flight from Amsterdam to Poznan has been canceled. I was sent an e-mail offering a re-route or refund, but their call centre seems no longer operational and I've pretty much given up hope of receiving a response to the e-mail I sent. I hear now from somebody else that Central Wings have never flown Amsterdam to Poznan or Gdansk, but were advertising flights. I hope they're not that desperate for money they've sold non-existent flights for mugs like myself?!

We booked our flight from London Gatwick to Warsaw Poland 2 months in advance. The price was reasonable (well would have been if all went to plan) Two weeks before our flight they e-mailed us to let us know they changed the day's we were flying. They moved them forward one day both departure and return to England. Luckily we were staying with faimily if we had a hotel booked it would have been a diffrent matter.
We got to the airport checked in no problems. The flight was then delayed 1 1/2 hours due to the plane having "problems" this happens from time to time so we lived with it. We got on the plane and it seemed old. I fly wuite a lot and this is the oldest plane i had seen. Anyway we got there ok and had no more problems until the return home flight.
We checked in to be told "your getting a free meal" we thought great but why? "your flight has been delayed 3 hours the plane has broken down at gatwick" This did anoy most people including us as not only were we delayed getting t Poland but also on the way home. We were told that after 3pm (the time of the flight) we could go and claim our free meal. Anyway it got to 2pm and we went to find the restaurant to see what it was like as we were bored by now. The nice lady at the door gave us all the information about coming back after 3pm getting a meal voucher and eating. We then went for a wander around the rest of the airport. At 3:30pm we returned looking to get a meal voucher unable to find anyone. Soembody near by us stopped a member of staff who called the Central wings general manger over. He seemed to have great pleasure in telling us "we have cancelled the meals" we all wanted to know why and he told us "because we cancelled your flight" At the point we were all mad. Why had they waited so long to tell us. We were told to get our luggage and await further instructions. Once we finally got our bags back (at 4:30pm) this GM had disapeared we now know he had gone home fore the day leaving staff from other airlines to deal with the problem. We were then given a ticket to say the flight was cancelled so we could stay in a hotel (the airport hotel) at the expense of central wings. At this point another pasanger found out from their office by calling them the flight for the day after had been cancelled too. Now we were all mad. We and most other people went to book other flights to get home some people paying as much as £500 for a one way ticket on a 2 hour flight. We wended up paying £450 for two people from Warsaw to London Luton with Wizzair (good little airline). This was not till 6am the next morning so we got in a taxi to go to the hotel. We got to the hotel to be told that central wings had booked the hotel for 140 people and then cancelled it again as they didn't want to pay the 99 eurors a night. What were we supposted to do? Other people still didn't have flights lucky for us there was faimily the other side of warsaw so back into the taxi at yet more expense. After all this trying to call them is impossible they don't answer the phone. I have a total lack of respect for this airline and anyone thinking of flying with them should think again. I would not fly with them even if it was free let alone pay for it. Since they have caused me loss of earnings and increased expense and i'm sure somewhere breaking european laws i will be seeking legal advice on this waste of space company. BEWARE!!!!!

that was nice as normally an airline should dish out the meal/drink voucher till 4hours after the delay so to have it when told at check in is a first .... !

i would complain as they are suppose to be honest with you and not feed you lies and not cancel things they have stated they would give the passengers .....

The era of cheap flights is over, most of the low cost airlines will go bust over the next few years, plus some of the bigger ones as well. They simply are cut out for $130 oil.

I have just booked my ticket from Krakow to London for June but now beginning to feel worried .I have used Wizz so far and have had no problems but the dates I wanted were bloody expensive.Now just hope it will be ok.

I've flown a lot with CW and also with German Wings, and found the overall service to be going more and more down the pan. I'm sure that I posted about the grief that I had with them last time I went to Warsaw on PF.

Next time I fly to Warsaw, I'll probably go with Wizz from Luton. It's a bit of a schlep for me, seeing as I'm in East London however I can get a transfer from Victoria. And they have a lovely purple colour scheme.

If you live in East London you can get there by National Express or whatever it is called.It runs every hour as far as I remember and will take you straight to Stratford.
Is there anyone here on PF who has had good experience with CW to cheer me up?
How can I cancel the flight with CW? I guess since they have been going through a difficult time I might have problems with getting my money back.

and there is a notice showing on this page saying that there is a "due to high demand for the call centre it will take a while to connect to a consultant"... but you could lose your money if you havent got a good reason to cancel ... hence why most people sell their tickets on eBay to try and make their money back ... rather than lose it
