The Changing Face of Scotland - we need more immigrants!

It's partly true that we need more immigrants. As a Scot, I think that part of the problem was the inability of Jack McConnell(ex), our First Minister in Scotland, to lure/entice Scots back to their homeland to and take up work there. We were in a position some years back where we had 21,000 graduates out of work. Rather than look harder, they upped sticks and headed for other shores. Having talked with Poles in Edinburgh (I am from Aberdeen), I know that they'd rather do 'worse' jobs in Scotland and live without excessive red tape. Also, Alex Salmond SNP, issued a warm welcome to Poles looking to set up shop in Scotland. Granted, there has been some conflict but very minimal overall. These immigrants add a positive new dimension for the most part and are well-educated. Besides, Scots and Poles are well-suited

Whether it's right or wrong, a lot of Polish people arrive here (UK) with poor English speaking skills so it's natural to want to be in a social group you feel comfortable in eg - that you can comfortably communicate in.

********, you integrate with us. we should not be expected to bend over backwards acomodating poles like you. if yu dont like it go HOME

What are you havering about now? I am home. I am living in the city of my birth. Do YOU actually integrate with ANYONE? Or do you sit in a darkened room thinking up the next load of bile you're going to puke up in here?

Is it bending over backwards to talk to a fellow human being? I see you have been full of Christmas joys.

Have you read the article at all? Can't you see it would be bad for us if you got your inexplicable wish?

Yeah, noimmigration, r u from Scotland? I don't represent the voice of Scotland here as I'm hardly Sean Connery, Sean yes, but it's purely a matter of choice. Pakistanis, Koreans and other ethnic groups don't integrate much either but they can provide a service that others don't. In my home city of Aberdeen, there are many Indians and Chinese that provide wonderful cuisine but Aberdonians don't criticise them for not integrating in the fullest sense. I wouldn't drink with a Pole just for the sake of it, much in the same way as I wouldn't drink with a fellow Scot if I didn't like him/her. If I liked them, then of course. Immigrants provide variety and variety is the spice of life

when I walk into my newspaper shop, I have a good conversation with the asian shop keeper same with my asian neighbours.

I work with polsih people who speak english, I cannot have anykind of conversation with them, they are rude and obnoxious and my boss now trys only to employ scots.
polish workers refuse to go to the pub with us and when they have done before they never bought rounds and talking to them was like talking to a brick wall.

It can be that way, there are many yobbos in Poland like almost everywhere. I know the sorts that I'd love to just put my 100kgs+ body weight into but I've seen the same in my own country many times and, well, English hooligans, they are despicable too. Especially their behaviour abroad, some ambassadors, huh? Noimmigration, have u asked ur Polish colleague why they don't talk with you?

No I am not going to attempt any kind of reconcilliation between the poles and scots at my work. when the poles first came I was sick to death at being the only one to ask how are you, or say hello when walking past them.

I am not going to waste any time and effort trying to understand their low class eastern european culture and social system. I just want them out my country, and my next vote will be regarding strictly immigration policies.

I have many scots friends, from university, work and friends I have known since i was a an infant. I also have friends of various ethnic minorities and differant nationalities.

I can honestly say from experiance and not prejudice that the poles are undesirables, I have tried with them but the fact remains that they are dickheads.

I g to the pub with african, chinese etc students from univeristy, and i enjoy their company. I have been to the pub with poles and they are cheap, rude, obnoxious etc.

Then why are you on PolishForums.com? A place where people come TO learn about Polish culture, social system, language etc. Every time you're on here you're harping on about Polish culture so you obviously have some interest in it, however negative it might be.

I think the problem lies in that you have no wish to interact with Polish people so you send out that vibe, which is picked up on, therefore no one talks to you.

It's just a case of supply and demand. Maybe there has been increased job creation in recent years but Scotland is a small country and doesn't necessarily need more immigrants but it's good to have options

no its not vibes I have sent out, I am one amongst many scots who have to put up with poles from first hand experiance.

I am not a bnp voter I despise their far right wing politics, however their views on multiculturism and immigration are spot on.

lbour are introducing a points system to combat non eu immgration, this is useless as non eu citizens already need visas. the biggest threat from immgration cmes from eastern europe not outside the eu.

however immigration is of such a big concern to me with hundreds of hundreds of thousand s of slavs pouring into the country, if no immgration policies from mainstream parties exist I will vote bnp, not because I am far right wing nor because I am racist but because I believe immigrations such a problem that it will affect my future and my future childrens future.

I also think its rich when I hear poles critizizing brits who are against immigration, when I have seen so many racist anti immigration marches in poland on youtube.

I work day in and day out with people of many nationalities and the people I have most trouble with are people like you. People from this country who think no one else should be allowed in. Those are the people I have to "put up" with.

i dont think noone should be allowed in. I do think that we should not let in over 700'000 unskilled poles. if poles have medical qaulifications etc, then they are welcome. most poles I have met are toilet cleaners who cant even speak f*cking english. these poles should never have been let in. do you know what its like having to explain to poles how to do their work through the use of diagrams and sign language ?

what do you work as then polskadoll ?

Noimmigration, you despise the BNP's far right policies but u may vote for them? Surely it would be better to resolve ur grievances with Poles by letting them know how u feel, or just ignoring them. Many people have others in their workplace that they don't like but we gotta live together within the boundaries of tolerance

This is MY country seanus. My ancestors fought and died for this country. My forefathers FOUGHT for workers rights etc.
I will NOT tolerate eastern europeam mass immigration. our cultures are incompatible and why should I just ignore them. it is people like you who just sit and do nothing and destroy this country.

I have never had a problem with foriegners, I do have a problem with polish cultural attitudes and primitive social structure, I have problems with any kind of mass immigration.

The only people in Scotland I've heard moaning about immigrants taking their jobs are the people who have never worked a day in their lives. There arent enough workers here and the birth rate is far below the level required to replace the population. Plus Polish people who come here tend to be of the type prepared to do an honest hard day's work, unlike almost any unemployed Scot. The only reason to be out of a job today in Scotland is disability (which could mean almost anything today) or sheer laziness (which will probably soon be treated as a disability). Perhaps Noimmigration's colleague wont talk to him because he knows that he hates Polish people.... Or perhaps he is too busy working, while noimmigration is more concerned with his nationality and goose stepping back and forth in his mcdonalds uniform like a little fuhrer boy.

I know what it's like to have to explain like this to a few Brits also.

Sad. I wonder what you'd think if the situation were reversed and it was us flooding to another country to try and make a bit of money? You'd expect to be welcomed and given a job...

By the way, the title of this thread is about needing more immigrants...Scots are flooding out as it is, without being forced...
