Hi, your problem is just to adopt a polish child then use this email address mamas_love@hotmail.com but if you have got a child already in Poland to adopt, then please am sorry it will not be easy.Let me tell you my own story:am also a Canadian but am now working in France, when i traveled to Poland 2 years ago,i decided to adopt a child after i left the place but it was not possible according to regulations of adoption and since my wife could not put to birth and i really love their children. Then i was directed to this catholic christain children home in Cameroon(MEMORIES HOME CENTER) were i got to have Lizzy just after 3 months and the cost was quiet minimal and we are living happily now. This home is a catholic home that specialized with only white children from Europe but since the home became crowded they started giving the children out for adoption, they are simple and easy to adopt but you only have to promise them that you will show all the love for the child he or she deserves. Here is my own email address maxings2000@yahoo.com and that of the home is mamas_love1976@hotmail.com.bye in case you need my help mail me.

So once you start adoption process, how long does it take before you get to hold your child? To be honest since the day we begin the process everything seems to go wrong. We are approved by the home study agency and we are begining to compile our Dossier.

Krysia,

I am in process of adopting through one of the agencies, however I have family who lives close to an orphanage and who works there. Can they help me adopt a child? So far the agency here in US indicated that if I find a child myself then they cannot help me due to legal issues. What would you do? Either I will have to wait 2 years for adopting a child or find one and do part of the adoption on my own.

Depending on the adoption agency. Sometimes you might have to stay 3 weeks so you can bond with the child and get the passports and documents ready.

Recently, many Americans have become victims of Cameroonian con-men/women offering to place their children for adoption through the Internet. Americans should be very cautious about sending money or traveling to Cameroon to adopt a child from an orphanage they have only heard about through e-mails. The competent authorities for intercountry adoption are the Ministry of Social Affairs and the High Court (Tribunal de Grande Instance) that has jurisdiction over the place of residence of the child to be adopted. Cameroon does not have adoption agencies. In general, any orphanage may release an orphan for adoption. However, in order to help protect themselves and the children from the possibility of fraud or other serious problems, prospective adoptive parents are advised to consider first the list of accredited orphanages available at the Ministry of Social Affairs. Should prospective adoptive parents wish to hire a Cameroonian attorney to assist with the adoption, they can obtain a list of attorneys from the U.S. Embassy in Yaoundé.

The African child adoption by rich Americans these days seem so low...

Its an act to make themselves popular...maintain their figure... and at the same time do the dog a favour (I say dog, because that is how I feel they think about these children).

Are white children adopted by blacks? ... there are many rich blackpeople around the world...

I think if both societies make the adoption among ethnicities legal...then it suits.

There are white children in Africa also who are for adoption by white people. There are many scams going around from Nigeria and Cameroon with not only adoptions but also with dogs and parrots. I would be very careful.

Each and everyone of them Cameroon adoptions are a Scam. Not one child was allowed a visa to be allowed into this country last year nor the year before so Yes they are scams yes they will lie and it sounds good. That fee is Outrageous look up the annual income of someone in that country that fee could support a whole community and then some. The parents always died or some tragedy befell them that is the usual story. Do not believe them not even the cute kid pictures they are likely to send to you.

You first need to have a home study done, tranlated into Polish, then contact an orphanage. Best to have a knowlegable lawyer working with you. Could take about a year or so.

Hello,

I just found your Forum. My husband and I are very interested in adopting a child from Poland. We live in Maryland, U.S.A. Is anyone familiar with an adoption agency in Maryland that assists with Polish adoptions? Do we have to use an agency, or can we "do this ourselves"?

I have family in Poland, and my father is Polish. Just over a year ago, I got to meet a Polish cousin, and hear the Polish language spoken for the first time (none of my immediate family were taught to speak Polish by their parents, my grandparents). I almost cried. I am 39 and will be 40 in November 2008. My husband is 43. He has a 9 year old son from a previous marriage. We would appreciate any information on the process, including experiences. Thank you!

Sincerely,
Kimberlee

The first thing you should do is check the age requirement for parents. I think you could be on the limit.

The process involves: mental health checks, suitability of housing, and they will ask how important adoption is to you. For example, will you take an older child or a child with problems. You have to give the right answers to these questions.

Good luck

I am currently working with Saint Mary's International Adoptions out of NC. They've got their act together, especially, with all of the new Hague rules.

Hi barb

I'm new here too so wanted to welcome you to the PF.

I'm afraid I can't answer your question about adoption but I wish you all the best of luck in achieving your dream.

Fertility issues have brought me here, I've read lots recently about people travelling to Polland from the UK for IVF treatment & so wondered whether anyone has an interest in Surrogacy who would like to share stories as I am a Surrogate Mother in the UK.
I can give information to anyone looking in to Surrogacy too.

Keep us updated on your adoption journey.

Krysia or anyone who knows, my case is a little different. My husband and I are considering adopting in Poland, only because we currently live in Poland. We already have a child adopted from the US so we are very familiar with that process. My question is, how does our living in Poland change the procedure? Obviously we wouldn't need to work with an American agency, correct? Can we go straight to the orphanage we wish to adopt from? Can we do a private adoption since we live here?

Thanks,
SB
