clunkshift: Hello from England

I am over 50, married with adult children and have a few friends in Cracow / Silesia. I have only visited Poland twice, but have an interest in the country and people.
I live in Hampshire, between the large Polish communities in Reading and Southampton and I don't have to go specially to our local Polish Delicatessen to meet Poles as I meet them at work every day, and seem to bump into them wherever I go in England.
My wider family has Polish connections by marriage and I am olde enough to regret not finding out more about them when I was young.
I am considering a motorcycling holiday in Poland with one of my sons, as I drove along some good bike roads in a hired Chrysler Voyager and would love to do it again on 2 wheels.
I apologise in advance for not being 'text' or acronym literate and I don't use smileys - grumpy old men just don't do that.

So hello to everyone

Clunkshift.

Hello and welcome clunkshift.

I think there is a thread somewhere about motorcycling in Poland. At the very least someone asked questions about it.

Hi Clunk,
We are members of a Christian Motorcyle Association here in USA (Mass.).
Do you have a chapter in England?

The short answer is no, but with my three sons having bikes and me having two of my own, we have our own family "chapter" - perhaps just a verse?

I am a lifelong biker but I ride more for commuting than for pleasure trips as Sundays are too busy for bikes and my wife and children are also into horses, 4x4 off-roading, and general twentysomething leisure activities. So I am not a good club member and just about maintain membership of the local BMWOC.

The boys like 4 cyl buzz boxes and I prefer big twins but we all get too competitive for any serious touring...

Our Polish friends love the bikes, and we taught two girls to ride on trail bikes while they were with us. The only downside of Polish girls is when you have just topped 130 mph on a winding road and slow down to ask if they are ok and they reply: "This is fun, can we go any faster?"
There is a Bike hire shop in Warsaw which rents 1000cc Suzukis and I'm seriously thinking of having a bike holiday there next time, as the mountain roads were fun in an MPV, so should be great on a bike.

BTW I'm at the fundamentalist end of the spectrum (open brethren), but can have bible discussions with my Polish Catholic friends without falling out.
