Hi all,

I made a compendium of the polish alphabet (borrowed pieces of information here and there), and I was wondering if I got it right. Can anyone skim through it and comment on it please? (and anyone please feel free to use it for your own benefit of course).

c = ts as in cats
e = e as in spelling
g = hard g as in game
i = ee as in creep
j = y as in yes
o = o as in blog
s = s as in silk
u = oo as in moose
w = v as in vowel
y = i as in sit
± = nasal o as in own
æ = soft ch as in cheap
ê = nasal e as in en
³ = w as in way
ñ = soft n as in onion
ó = oo as in moose
¶ = soft sh as in she
¼ = soft zh asin azure
¿ = hard zh as in zhivago
au = ow as in oh no!
ch = h as in h
ci = chea as in cheap
cz = ch as in chip
d¼ = g as in gene
dzi = ge as in geronimo
d¿ = j as in john
eu = ehw as in ..ehm.. ehw?
rz = hard zh as in zhivago
si = shee as in sheep
sz = hard sh as in ship
zi = soft zh as in azure

Kind regards,

Maurits

± = nasal o as in own

No, that is not right. It is more like the 'a' in the English word 'sawmill' with a longish a sound. It is deffinitly not the 'o' sound in own.

ow as in oh no!

More like the 'ou' in the word out.
