This is my first post and i thank you in advance for any responses that i get.

My 3 friends and I are visiting Krakow for 3 nights at the start of november. During our stay we are intending to watch the Cracovia game.

Having watched the Ross Kemp programme on Sky1 last week which i know has been spoken about on here previously, we are a little concerned about safety at the match.

Firstly would you recommend we dont go to the match??
What is Racism like as one of my friends is from Malaysia??
Any tips you could offer??

I am aware that the Ross Kemp show is probably not a true reflection of football supportrs in Poland but was looking for re-assurance.

Many thanks again

Probably nothing bad will happen but I can't guarantee that you will be safe.

It's hard to tell - for sure the fans of Cracovia Krakow and Wisla Krakow don't like each other. If you are Cracovia fan you should be OK.

Yes but not because of your safety. It's just that there are far better things to do in Krakow than watch a football match. If I had just three days I wouldn't waste my time going to the game which is not exactly up to the standard of La Liga or the Premiership. If you are a real football fan and the game is important to you then I apologise in advance !

Thank you for all of your responses,

I am aware you cannot guarentee safety as we could just be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Regarding racism, is it really a problem in Krakow??

Ok thruman31

before buing ticket ask which tribune is the most safe, hooligans sticks to hooligans and normal supporters stick to normal supporters. Just sit on the right tribune and I think you will be 100% safe.

Town is safe for tourists, hooligans fights against hooligans and nobody care about tourists ...

I m 100% sure that on the old town there will be no rasist violence or slogans.

as to stadium, I just asked my friend form cracow (special for you, I sell rugby taff so I know a lot of hools ;) ) Hooligans in cracow are rather not politicians, and he told me that there shouldnt be any problem with your friend. Just go on right tribune ...

This year 9 mln people (from all over the world) visited this town so ... it is industry and citizens really care about tourist safety, old town is really safe

what I want to add last time when our hools becomed well known ;) some tourists fo special there to see Poles in action ;))) but dont think about joing them in action ... ;)))

Lukasz,

Many thanks for your help, very useful.

I will stick to right tribune, looking to enjoy the game but not get involved in any violence that may occur.

Hi Truman.

I'm from Scotland and attended Cracovia v Korona Kielce in October last year. The advice about going to the correct tribune is sound, it should be obvious which is which once you get there but the the all seated grandstand area is the safest, there is an old fashioned terrace which looked a whole lot livelier but not particularly unsafe (although Cracovia and Korona are apparently friendly to each other and certainly there was a great deal of respect shown between both sets of fans).

It's well worth the effort to get there, and to my mind perfectly safe. I would however discourage anybody from going to Cracovia v Wisla derby, we saw some of he build up to that as we were heading to the airport and it wasn't pretty.

Krakow is a beautiful and welcoming town, the chances of encountering racism would seem to me to be no more likely than in my home town - Edinburgh. Don't see any problems for you.

I'm heading for Gdansk in two weeks, hoping to go to Lechia Gdansk v Tur Turek.

Can anbody let me know how likely it is there may be trouble at this one, the best way of getting there (the University SKM stop looks the best to me) and any recommendations for bars etc. nearby.

Cheers
