One does not have to be particularly educated or demonstrate a significant degree of intellect or observational skill to immediately notice the stupidity and dullness of the game. It is a sport that fully encompasses and epitomises the arrogance of British existence and lack of dimension that people who play cricket possess. I'm shocked at your crepusculous outlook on this dilemma, and the conspicuously acerbic nature of your nature of your comments in an attempt to disguise your evident inability to mentally grasp the facts that I proclaim. Defenestrate your views on this affair to remove all obstructions in the metaphorical and physical sense and you will finally become aware of the truth about cricket. Only then will I be prepared to accept your insinuative, vitriolic remarks and attempts to objurgate me, and actually interpret them as the slightest forms of constructive criticism which consequently place my person in a deserved position of opprobrium.

lol

You're entitled to your opinion. Free speech after all doesn't cost anything right? :)

It's not too much to ask that we respect our friends of whatever likes and dislikes though is it?

Cricket is an incredible boring game, and you're all stupid to like it

Can you see that you inflame the discussion without adding anything of value by attempting to force your friends here to read how you know that it is boring and know we're stupid for liking it?
Free speech does not mean that one can shout "FIRE!" in a crowded cinema that's the test. Will there be damage done when the word fire is shouted in a packed auditorium is the test of how far the concept of free speech can be taken

Especially when the word fire is used emotionally and you are using the fire word emotionally in this crowded cinema. It's a bone that you can let go of mate it doesn't matter at the end of the day, it will show that you respect your friends if you accept that we can call a dog by a less emotionally-charged name.

Some words are more equal than others. Fire for example carries heat, best not to ignore that wouldn't you agree?

Anyway if the dog was female what would you call her... hmm you've got me worried now

One does not have to be particularly educated or demonstrate a significant degree of intellect or observational skill to know that you are probably a knoby-no-mates, who works in a library and does knitting in the evening. Why do you come here trying to impress people with your English!!! Hmmmmm...

I think there might have been an theasaurus used in the preparation of the jargon spouted by abitofanidiot. A theasuarus and a fair bit alcohol...

You'll actually be very suprised at the amount of knowledge and skill you need to be able to play the game of cricket. There are so many things to consider at one time, especially if you are a captain.

There are also elements in cricket that you don't find in any other sport, for example, when you go out to bat its just you (1 person vs the whole team 11) therfore making it a 1 (maybe 2 with the non-striker) vs 11, which i would challenge anybody to endure for a whole day of batting.

There are so many situations i could give you in cricket that you won't even understand, i'm sure you'll just reply and say 'well i'm not interested anyway' then you really have no leg to stand on, commenting on something you know notihng about is always a bad idea, especially when you come on pretending to be some kind of intellect :)

I suggest you try it and see how good you are, or see how board you are when you have nothing else to think about except the many scenario's that every ball can bring.

However i accept that not everybody will like one sport however condemning it the way you have simply shows your inability to understand something that you personally do not like.

Are you a Brit, American or Pole?? i'm sure i could turn around and say 'hay i reckon basketball is boring because its just end to end 2 or 3 points all the time' but i don't its each to their own :)

thanks for your contribution, however i've heard your arguments and comments a thousand times before, i'm happy to play cricket and have managed to play to a high standard and enjoyed my time as a cricketer, maybe you should concentrate on what your good at and actually achieve something for yourself instead of grumbling at others. (just a thought, lol)

It is true that I dont like cricket. It is too long and so it can be boring and time consuming. But yes, most of my family love it. Perhaps it depends on person to person.

Where i live in Stalbridge we've got a whole week of cricket matches going on. It's a cricket fest to help raise money for the club and local school. Loads going on with music and bar b que in the evenings.

I admire your diplomatic approach towards your criticism of my methods of condemning a sport you are clearly passionate about. There was no alcohol or thesaurus involved in my comment, which I must admit was a slight exaggeration and for which I apologise. I cannot claim to have been converted in my opinion towards cricket by any of the above arguments, but one must always find something to strive towards and certain goals to try and accomplish and cricket seems to be yours. I fully respect and identify with your love of the sport, and understand that we have different opinions about it. Good luck with your attempts to arrange a match (or game, or whatever you cricketeers call it) in Poland.

There are three currently active clubs in Poland, two in the Lubuskie region and one in Warsaw. The best is the "Polonia Cricket Club", which also plays the role of being the National Team. All links are on "cricket.pl", although no telephone numbers seem to be included.

Score? It is not a bloody game! Your hobby has clearly become an obsession when you begin to ensure that everything you say has some connection with it. And don't include those immature little signs constructed from keyboard characters because it is a testament of your obvious incomplete mental development! Why try to adapt to the customs of contemporary teenagers; do you feel you cannot demonstrate enough originality in your expression because you are unable to conceal the lack of dimension your personality possesses?

Just interested how many people play cricket in Poland? I've seen on the net that there are 3 teams listed - Warsaw, Lubuskie and Polonia. Just wondering if there are any other teams(?).

I worked in Poland for a couple of years back in the 90's as a TEFL Teacher and my wife's from Opole. We go there a lot still. I was disappointed recently to hear from family members across in Poland that cricket is looked on as an 'exclusive'/'snobby' sport - as it's anything but (very much a working man's game - especially in Northern England).

I'm from the Highlands of Scotland (only 1/4 Polish) but now live just East of the Highlands - so perhaps some might think it odd that I Captain a cricket team (here in Scotland) - although it's brought me great sporting and social pleasure over the years.

I'm hopefully going to get some of my Polish pals here in Scotland trained up in cricket over the winter and into teams next year - we could end up a feeder team for the Polish National Squad!lol

Would love to hear from any Polish cricketers.

Slainte! (Na zdrowie!)

what thats the view on it in Poland??? i'm surprised that anybody would think that

your right there, i think in the 40#s and 50's it may have been a bit more exclusive but now it is played everywhere by everybody in the UK

that would be kool to have a Polish national team, they could play a few of our club or even county teams to get them into the swing of things.

what would a Polish cricket pitch be described as, hard and icy :)

lol, there is not such thing as a seventh innings in cricket, there are a maximum of two each :)

this website will tell you all you need to know about the wonderful sport

As for baseball i haven't a clue when or where it started, i'm guessing the americans were actually trying to play cricket but got a bit confused, bless their cotton socks, therefore developed baseball instead :)

Cricket is not a recognised sport in Poland, however there are some players of British origin who occassionally meet to play. I feel there is no real chance of organising a tour unless your sole aim was to increase awareness of this sport. I do however feel that a few games could be organised in Warsaw.

All the best
