Why is circumcision not practiced in Poland?

Why is it that Poland seems like such a backwards country? It's disgusting that most Polish men are uncircumcised. Medical science has proven the health benefits of circumcision yet Poles refuse to practice it?

Japanese don't do it either and look how 'backwards' they are ;) ;) It's just not an issue.

Unless you are going to poland to stare at mens bits in the changing rooms, I don't see how this should affect you. Unless you are going for a very specific type of tourism then my best guess would be maybe culturally it never really took off. Also,

Many women refuse to have sex with uncircumcised men. I can't blame them since it looks like they have sea cucumbers hanging on their bodies!

It's no wonder why so many Polish women prefer American men.

Rebirth, are many Muslims backwards? My friend Kefayet insisted that Muslims do this but it doesn't stop other people from maintaining effective oral hygiene. For instance, I use a special liquid from Ziaja to stave off bacteria. I'm not circumcised, nor do I feel I am losing out through not being so.

Actually, most muslims should be circumcised. That doesn't change the fact that you are unusually biased against the poles Rebirth, come on you can tell us.... Did your polish ex leave you for a pole?

For people like you the doctors suggest lobotomy, aka brain circumcision. Why are you so backward and don't follow their advice?

It's not disgusting, rather it's natural. The "health benefits" have not been proven beyond a doubt. I personally wish that I hadn't been maimed.

There are no health benefits you're born with that layer of skin for a reason. Circumcision was introduced into western hospitals so that if an another Hitler came around that would be a way to find hidden Jews. No anti-semitism just stating facts.

There arn't any health benifits. Would you pluck out your toenails in case you ever have ingrown toe-nails?

A keen observation. Obviously you find circumsised cock's more attractive. Your sexual orientation is your free choice.

Why are parents who circumcise their babies so backwards? The foreskin keeps the penis protected, it's healthier and less stressful for the child. More and more Americans are seeing the health benefits of leaving the foreskin on and protect their children from this disgusting and harmful procedure. Circumcised penises are disgusting.
So I don't know what backwards country you are from, but this is a really uncool procedure and more parents are chosing not to have that done to their children.
If someone doesn't like it, they can alter their penis when adults. This is a decission men should make for themselves because this abuse shouldn't be done on defenseless babies.

So from this non-trollish provocation, we have learned that all penises (whether circumcised, or not) are disgusting.

Lol.
I as a parent never did that to my baby. People need to watch a video how barbaric this is, the pain the child is going through, how it's strapped and can't move with no anethesia and many times complications arise. Not only has the child gone through birth, is all stressed out now then he undergos another torture.
A loving parent would not do this to their child and watch how it's suffering.

No. It was done because the medical community actually beleived there were health benefits.

No, not many times.

Yes, there are.

1 Many older men, who have bladder or prostate gland problems, also develop difficulties with their foreskins due to their surgeon's handling, cleaning, and using instruments. Some of these patients will need circumcising. Afterwards it is often astonishing to find some who have never ever seen their glans (knob) exposed before!

2 Some older men develop cancer of the penis - about 1 in 1000 - fairly rare, but tragic if you or your son are in that small statistic. Infant circumcision gives almost 100% protection, and young adult circumcision also gives a large degree of protection.

3 Cancer of the cervix in women is due to the Human Papilloma Virus. It thrives under and on the foreskin from where it can be transmitted during intercourse. An article in the British Medical Journal in April 2002 suggested that at least 20% of cancer of the cervix would be avoided if all men were circumcised. Surely that alone makes it worth doing?

4 Protection against HIV and AIDS. Another British Medical Journal article in May 2000 suggested that circumcised men are 8 times less likely to contract the HIV virus. (It is very important here to say that the risk is still far too high and that condoms and safe sex must be used - this applies also to preventing cancer of the cervix in women who have several partners.)

A BBC television programme in November 2000 showed two Ugandan tribes across the valley from one another. One practised circumcision and had very little AIDS, whereas, it was common in the other tribe, who then also started circumcising. This programme showed how the infection thrived in the lining of the foreskin, making it much easier to pass on.

5 As with HIV, so some protection exists against other sexually transmitted infections. Accordingly, if a condom splits or comes off, there is some protection for the couple. However, the only safe sex is to stick to one partner or abstain.

6 Lots of men, and their partners, prefer the appearance of their penis after circumcision, It is odour-free, it feels cleaner, and they enjoy better sex. Awareness of a good body image is a very important factor in building self confidence.

7 Balanitis is an unpleasant, often recurring, inflammation of the glans. It is quite common and can be prevented by circumcision.

8 Urinary tract infections sometimes occur in babies and can be quite serious. Circumcision in infancy makes it 10 times less likely.

few men and there is no correlation with bladder or prostate disease

That study has been challenged as being flawed.

I work with many HIV-infected circumcised men. I don't beleive there is any protection afforded a circumcised male.

Rebirth, I can see you were more serious than this first appeared. I find many back and forths that some become involved in on here dull so I won't go too deeply into this. Much such as Uganda Hiv transfer/Surgical procs on elderly are still hygene issues, and is a choice for a sexually active man to consider depending on his sexual activity, certainly not for routine procedures on babies in the name of modernity.

I was aware of the Cancer issue and this equates with heredetary breast cancer where mastectomies are performed before any sign of Cancer. Much worse emotionally for the women involved I'd assume. However, this is now thought to be incorrect see http://www.bmj.com/content/335/7631/1180.full

"Far from being a harmless traditional practice, circumcision damages young boys" is current medical thinking (Sorrells ML, Snyder JL, Reiss MD, Eden C, Milos MF, Wilcox N, et a)

The American Academy of Pediatrics acknowledges that there are some health benefits to circumcision, but they are not enough to justify the risks associated with the procedure, so they no longer recommend it for babies.

Under the UN conventions it is also considered to be against the welfare of the child except where both guardians consent for cultural concerns, that is, religion (A dated concept to me, but lets not go there).

As with most things, whatever you see in your culture, seems normal and more beautiful. I am sure those who have their necks stretched, or their feet shortened from birth by binding consider a regular human neck ugly, and regular human feet ugly.

It comes down to what you are used to and people then justify whatever it is as their preference. I think the best judge of better sex would be a man who was left intact as a child and later had the procedure.

I've heard that with the loss of the foreskin, the penis is exposed to more friction from clothing and eventually becomes less sensitive.

It's less sensitive immediately when the circumcision procedure is done. This is because nerve endings are cut off. However, this is a good thing because circumcised men can last longer when having sex with a woman. They are able to pleasure the woman longer before ejaculation.

A 2002 review by Boyle et al. stated that "the genitally intact male has thousands of fine touch receptors and other highly erogenous nerve endings—many of which are lost to circumcision, with an inevitable reduction in sexual sensation experienced by circumcised males."
