Legalising Marijuana in Poland. Therapy available?

Holland and Berlin however are very similar.

Do you mean Amsterdam and Berlin or Holland and Germany?

Smurf are you informed the Netherlands are now adopting a tougher stance on the Marijuana industry in NL as they believe it brings criminality.

forbes.com/sites/ceciliarodriguez/2014/05/13/why-pot-is-losing-its-lustre-in-the-netherlands/

And the Dutch Justice Department's recent €250,000 fine against Doede de Jong, one of the most outspoken weed farmers, plus a suspended two-month jail sentence and 100 hours community service, is seen by many as a signal of the government's growing hostility to tolerance.

Contrary to popular belief, marijuana is not legal in the Netherlands. Possession of small amounts and retail sales are allowed, as practiced by the coffee shops. But cultivation and wholesale distribution remains a crime.

No, Holland and Berlin. In Germany things are done on a state by state basis. Though since you mention Amsterdam, it's worth mentioning that the legal changes last year in holland don't include Amsterdam.

Personally I find the way it's done in Berlin to be very civilised however it would make a lot of sense to collect the tax revenues. The atmosphere at Görli is so much nicer than for example a pub with the same number of clients and for those who want a drink as well the are a couple of rather classy bars there too. Plus a restaurant if you get the munchies.

It would seem this journo for Spiegal would not agree:

spiegel.de/international/germany/goerlitzer-park-drug-problem-new-push-for-legal-cannabis-sales-a-921738.html

In the Kreuzberg park small children play on the grass and mothers push their babies around in strollers, while a few meters away drug dealers peddle their wares. No, she doesn't feel totally comfortable, says one woman with a stroller. She, too, has been approached by dealers. She says she used to lived in Kreuzberg and was surprised when she came back a few years ago. "The situation has deteriorated in the park,"

Which is utterly stupid and only encourages criminals to enter the drug trade.

An anecdote from a notoriously conservative publication is proof of nothing except the hack's opinion. Reality paints a clearer picture and nobody is forcing the woman in question to go there, though plenty of families were there enjoying the sun last week.

I wonder if the same woman would give a more positive sound bite about a trip with her kiddy to a beer garden?

Good that you googled it though - why not have a look at some of the tourist review sites?

Which is utterly stupid and only encourages criminals to enter the drug trade.

Just as it was in the US when the failed alcohol prohibition law was in force, and so it is now when the failed marijuana prohibition law is in force in Poland. Overly restrictive barriers to the market just drive away respectable money and leave a void for criminals.

There's a fairly reasonable theory that one of the most powerful forces keeping drugs illegal is all the money being made by the criminals involved in the drug trade and them both not being interested in not making that money and being very ruthless when it comes to getting rid of things that disturb their profit flow.

Merged: Marijuana therapy now in Poland

Very good news. One at teatime makes for a chilled evening

There already is one medicine containing active marijuana substances used in the treatment of multiple sclerosis. The drug, Sativex, can be prescribed by a doctor but is not reimbursed by ......Ministry explained that such medicines can be specially imported into Poland. These drugs can be used if .........The Health Minister is also in the process of investigating whether there are any instances in Polish law "that prevent importing the drugs from abroad".

+1

Anything to help with the suffering of people is always a good thing, especially when it's a natural plant and not synthetic junk.

Do you partake Jon ?

In Poland, that would be illegal. But when in Amsterdam, nothing wrong with stopping off for a coffee.

The article is about therapeutic uses - researchers are only just discovering the potential. The effects on MS are well known (though not for every sufferer) and it also has benefits for treating certain cancers and glaucoma.

As well as being rather nice.

I think they have outlawed smoking weed in those places for tourist consumption jon.
Only citizens of Amsterdam are allowed to indulge in such stupidity.

Tourists can still buy weed in Amsterdam.
Ever pragmatic, the police know that if they were all closed to tourists, there would be hordes of tourists looking to buy weed on the street.

Still they are being closed down one by one I believe.

If you where to smoke a joint at your home in Warsaw you would be in possesion of an illegal substance by Polish law which is a criminal act just like drunk driving.

I had the authorities round at my gaffe - some stupid probation law, as I was involved in a traffic accident and had to sign off on it being my fault. I didn't go to court, but had to "promise not to do it again" and to agree to probation. Really weird as it was not a pre-meditated act to hit an old biddy who walked out plumb in front of my car....

The probation officer came to my abode by appointment. His questions after some inane form filling were as follows:

1. Have you committed any type of offence since you were arrested 2 years ago....?
I've been using BitTorrent to download Hollywood films.....
2 Do you drink?
When I can....
Do you have a drinking problem?
Only when the shops are shut.......
3. Do you use drugs?
Sometimes. There is some marijuana in that pot right now. (There was of course).

After that he became ever more boring, so I had to order him to leave in the end:)

It's that time for mass disobedience again - but Poles are no good at that - they prefer to be controlled. If it wasn't so ridiculous I would laugh.

Please if people want to take drugs then go to the UK or the Netherlands, there is no need to mess this country up.

I kind of came here to get away from all the mess and violence that drug taking and dealing brings.

to get away from all the mess

Mmm... been on the booze all weekend - far worse for not cleaning Dougpol Mansions than a bit of waccy-baccy. The government want to tell everybody how to run their lives.

Outdated control. Nobody is listening.
