i'm guessing that there is very little thought about paki.. it's out there in central asia.. no real effect on PL except for mountain expeditions.

From my subjective experience I prefer not to be in business relationship with Pakistani people, some of them are not very fair and try to cheat you whenever they can.

Friggin Troll Muppet, the word "Paki" in Urdhu, the native/predominant language in Pakistan means "peace" this guy is obviously some narrow minded wind up merchant,The term "Paki" when used to describe a person is a form of racial abuse ....what a waste of space you are mr jabwaw.....

or working in the UK. The agency that supplied Polish workers to the company I work for was run by a Pakistani. He personally was very unpopular for his habit of paying his workers late every month. That kind of behaviour is more representative of his profession than his nationality or origin.

Pakistani is the generally accepted term for people from Pakistan.
Supposedly, Pakistan means land of the pure, but also means

Punjab
Afghania
Kashmir
Sindh
Baluchistan

Somehow it seems to fall apart at the end with Baluchistan, seeing as there are so many other -istans.

Polish mentality towards Pakistan

- You mean the Polish attitude towards the Pakistanis? If so, then - it's not unfriendly. Also, as you've probably noticed, we don't know much about Pakistan and the Pakistani people.

free,peace...same difference, either way its not a term a Pakistani would ever use to describe themselves...

osiol suggests pure as well - perhaps jabwaw can tell us

i would have thought that too but he does in his first post

osiol suggests pure as well

As many people on here have knowledge of two different languages, we should all be aware of how one word in language A might been translatable to a choice of 3 in language B, and so on. Free, pure and peace. Hmm. Not a million miles from eachother, so for different situations each of these may be appropraite for the same word.

Any experts? Rather than just the usual bunch of amateurs!

I posed a question about Bhutto's assasination and it received a scant response, so I think the 'Polish mentality towards Pakistan' is a strange title. I wonder how much even the most educated and wealthy Pakistani's in Pakistan think about Poland.

that has nothing to do with posters origin.. it was a political situations and those who don't follow such things, won't comment as they have no clue... not that has stopped anyone before but you know what i mean..

well osiol--> dont act like a amature young boy who himself is narrow minded and think that he is right about everything and rest of the world is.......

if you ask y instead of pakistani i used paki then plz spend some more time surfing the internet or try to use the computer more often which will broader your mind and your thinking so you will yourself get your answer.

using slang language like GHANDHU reveals how culture you are and on other side it negates your own thinking and saying.

anyway goodluck with your thinking :):)

I dont refer to my self as a "Paki" since in the UK and pretty much every where it is a derogatory term.

Personally, i could be moving to Krakow in the future and to my knowledge, I didnt know how Pakistanis got along with Polish people.

Computers broaden the mind? That's like saying LSD really does expand conciousness!
Where did I say I was right about everything? On this thread? Read again (if you're still using this site).

In the UK, anyone I have ever heard using the word 'Paki' has used it as a racist insult.

sorry osiol :) it was mistake from my side, actually it was a msg for isthatu. sorry for tat

Hej there,

nice to here from you :) Yeah I am Pakistani and living in Poland.

Well, life in Poland is quite good, infact if you are going to Krakow then I would say that its really very nice and old city full of tremendous things, from old renaissance buildings to all kinds of music concerts :) Life is Krakow is bit slow (by saying this I mean to say that ppl are not usually in rush :) as compare to Warsaw where I live).

As far as racisim/prejudice is concern then it will not be fair if I would not say that its totally not exist :) There are some places where you can hear about such things but not quite often, but in order to avoid such things there are couple of things you should aware of such as not going out late at night especially when you see bunch of drunk guys, avoid going at time whenever theres a football match etc etc.

Above all, its really very nice living here and if you are really fan of skiing or cycling or traveling and visiting different places then you have chosen right place :)

Still if you have any questions then don't hesitate to ask me :)

I have a question Jabwaw. Perhaps you could explain to me why "British born" Pakistanis would want to blow up trains and buses in London and why, yesterday, 12 Pakistanis and two Indians were arrested in Barcelona for posessing bombmaking equiptment and with planning terrorist acts.

I am not political or interested in religious arguments, just curious as to why these people should want to harm others who have welcomed them into their country. As to whether Pakistanis are liked or disliked is surely going to depend on their behaviour in the countries they decide to live/ integrate in?

I have a question Jabwaw. Perhaps you could explain to me why "British born" Pakistanis would want to blow up trains and buses in London and why......

Avalon, I have no single idea why they are doing this or why they think of blowing themselves and take lives of so many innocent people. I totally agree with you that the country like Britain have welcomed so many Pakistanis and now they earn their livelihood over there and some of them are living from generations, but still they act like this :(.

For your question my lips are closed and I don't know what to answer you. As far as my thinking goes its all in their blood (I'm sorry, cause for some readers it can be of fence so I apologies for it) theres no other reason I can see else wise.

Considering the fact that British Born Pakistanis are well educated and are well oriented with all the latest things which are happening in rest of the world- inshort they are well aware of everything, still (I'm sorry, cause for some readers it can be of fence so I apologies for it) if they kill such innocent ppl just for saying that its their religion that allows them to do so.... then I'm sorry...........

Another thing which I would like to add to my answer is regarding religion (I have nothing against Islam, even if I am not Muslim but still I respect the religion). There are some few people who are brainwashing certain amount of people just for the sake of their own personal thinking. By saying this I mean to say there are lot of people, who according to their believes, brainwash such highly educated and well oriented people that afterward they go everywhere and blow themselves and call themselves "Shahid"(it means martyr). To rest of the world it doesnt make any sense but for these brainwashed people its all about their afterlife.

I would like to give you one example. Suppose if their is British Pakistani family living in Britain from many years and they have children who grew their all there life. Now consider that if this is very religious family and beside this their children have never been to Pakistan before in their life. Therefore considering this supposition if they will go to Pakistan and will meet any religious fundamentalist, then its really very easy to brain wash them (even if they are well oriented). The system which is working in Pakistan is totally different from system in Britain (although Pakistan[previously Indian-subcontinent] was once its colony), but still its different. Things works in different way as in Britain. So once has to consider this fact as well. The mentality of Pakistanis is different from others :).....

blow up trains and buses in London

Including one at Aldgate, in a predominantly Musilim area, killing Muslims. I don't remember entirely, but I didn't think they were all of Pakistani origin. The 'shoe bomber' was half English, half Jamaican and converted to some sort of 'Islam'.

mistake

Apology accepted.

Thank you for taking the time to explain. As you point out, the Indian sub-ccontinent was a part of the British Empire, thus I see the link for some discontent for past actions. I still fail to see what the people of Catalunya have done to deserve this attention?

I still fail to see what the people of Catalunya have done to deserve this attention?

I think the answer to this statement that its the fault of Catalunya people that without understanding the difference between culture and religion they allowed so many Pakistanis to be their guest :)

If you talk about Pakistan then you cant separate religion from anything because its go side by side in every way of life :)

In all my half life experience living in Pakistan, I came to this conclusion that atleast the Muslim people living in Pakistan have double identity with double personality :) (I appologise for any offence to anybody- but truth speak for itself)for all what they are doing its pretty obvious :)
