getting back to you

i party in the tri city - my business partner runs one of the venues in klub zak which means he has to party for a living... and i get to join him... one of mates runs an open mike session at papryka every week so end up partying with him and another mate djs for a radio station in gdansk and another in warszawa so end up partying with him...

i might well not party for NY's... i had planned to do the tri city but i know it will go on for days and my body and head just cant cope... quiet one with the parents... bed by 12.15...

im not what would be described as a young man any more so prefer to party with the more mature... especially with tastes in music - for me its alot of funk, jazz, hip hop, reggae etc... and a lot of live music... people doing their own thing... nothing commercial...

... for me this is one of the big differences between sopot and krakow - when i have partied in krakow its always been full of kids... or pissed stag groups... sopot has youngsters of course but the party scene seems much more refined... grown up... serious party goers... for me, sopot has a vibe that i have only encountered in a couple of places round the world... especially during the summer...

last weekend, one of the top venues in sopot, sfinks, celebrated its 15th birthday... the guy who runs it, robert, is getting on a little now but still parties hard - his age group have grown up kids but they are still partying like they were 21... i have partied hard for twenty, twenty five years but i just cant keep up with these guys...!!!

hahah ur awesome bubbawoo i hope to have that kind of enegery after all my years of partying.... hahah.....hmmm sopot sounds real cool..... what are the venues like? in big tents/ or is it a bar/club region of sopot the city?, for me the most important thing is the people/ attitude/personalties in aclub. i love seing ppl happy and dancing and hate seeing ppl who think they are the coolest, badest, and the sexiest of all!!!!! maybe its just my perspective for seeing vancouver clubs so many times because over here theres alot of ppl that go out to get relally ****** up, act cool in club to cool to tlak to anyone. or they come in groups and think they are better then anyone else... but then again i have met a few cool ppl, just not many

party central sopot is a pedestrian road on a hill called monte casino - at the top end you have niepodlegwosci which is the main road in the tri city and sopot train station... at the bottom end you have a sort of park area which runs along the coast, sopot molo, the largest wooden pier in at least europe, and of course, the beach...

there are clubs, bars and restaurants all along mone casino - at the bottom it opens out into a square with a large fountain and during the summer this is full of people playing drums, break dancing, fier dancing etc... down in the park area there are various clubs and bars - this is where you will find sfinks and papryka... and along the beach there are various clubs that open out on to the sand...

some of the bars and clubs are in little side streets and courtyards of monte casino... maybe you will find them, maybe you wont... some of the clubs - spatif - can operate a door policy... maybe you will get in... maybe you wont... but wherever you go you will find people having fun... its a small compact area where people just wander from one place to the next place... drink outside... party on the beach...

what are the venues like?

mixed and varied... spatif is the upstairs floor of an old building... papryka is a beautiful old converted house with small rooms and sofas to chill or dancefloor to party... sfinks is an old theatre with small rooms, large rooms, vip rooms, mezzane, outside decked areas...

other places are downstairs bars, structures on the beach, old wharehouses, converted shops, restaurants...

i spent most of july on the beach and by lakes - mid thirties all month - the beaches were clean and if you move away from the centre of sopot then crowdes didnt exist... the water shocked me... but it is really shallow for some distance and this heats the water up to WARM... and increadibly clear... and none of the strange floaties that you tend to get in the med... especially last summer...
