I have just started learning Polish. Can you please recommend a good Polish-English English-Polish paperback dictionary? Also any other language tools that would be helpful on a trip to Poland outside the major cities.

Dziekuje
Shahama

Handy to have this PDF on your PC but I would think twice before printing it off !

polish.slavic.pitt.edu/dictionary.pdf

It is quite a large file - maybe not what you would want to take on your travels and is only PL - Eng.

There are quite a lot of good dictionaries on the market though I am not sure if there are many soft back-if that is an important thing. I have got a Slownik Angielsko-Polski Polko-Angielski printed by Buchman printed in Warszawa in 2005. I have many but I mention this one as it is not too complicated to use and I picked up this copy for £3 in a charity shop in Leatherhead. Sometims, even at car boots you may pick something up.

I have this one, it's good enough for most needs:

The lurid yellow of Langenshite. You poor thing Amy you have my sympathy. For me and it's all subjective vicar naturally the best was Pons or Hueber with quite appropriately Langenshite bringing up the rear. :)

I couldnt agree more Mr H...hence the reason Im giving it away that and the fact Polish might as well have been Chinese as far Im concerened, I blame it on the numbers I was quite enjoying it until I was told there were up to four spellings of certain numbers...I struggle with just the one in English :)
