In the US you need to have a license paid once a year. Neutered and spayed dogs cost less.

In canada there are no taxes for dogs. I take my dog to get rabies shots, but i don't think that's a law. Also dogs have to be on a leash and muzzled if they're aggressive so you don't get savagely attacked by a lawyer in case your dog bites someone. You have to pick up your dogs shite as many cities have bylaws for that - it's also respectful. If only poles would do this...
Pitbulls are banned in my province.

dog laws are on a county level but cities and towns may have their own ordinances beyond the county. i'm not sure what a license cost here; not many peeps do. $2-3 would be my guess. for agressive dogs one has to have a permit and possibly a bond (insurance.) there is a leash law in effect here, 6ft but nothing about muzzles which surprises me greatly. pits are legal and not all fall under the category of a dangerous dog. the local pit lobby has been working hard with good success.

vaccines are mandatory - rabies only. we have a 3 year shot here so if your pet has one of those then they have to just go back every 3 otherwise it's every year. none of our laws are strict or enforced so, for the most part, i haven't bothered with many of these tasks.

you need a city and a cook county vaccination license,
and if you want to use the dog beach at lake Michigan theres another fee for that.
