Hello, I worked in Poland, Rzeszow to be precise, about 3 years ago. I fell in love with the country over there and I still miss it. I would be interested in meeting some poles in Montreal, moreso polish girls ;) I have many memories of my stay in Poland and have developped an interest in it's history and culture. I even have a skewed opinion of russians because I've been hanging out with poles so much ;) lol

haven't had the chance to return to the forum until now... glad to see the warm welcome :)
So is anyone here from Rzeszow or has ever been there?
I have to tell you, my favorite hang out spot was Twasz Mieska (I might have spelled it wrong...The Face Of The City). A very cool underground pub with excellent music....

heh heh, well I've learned a bit about the history with Russia and have also witnessed a few very rude russians in Poland, so it's difficult not to have a biased opinion ;)

Hello Drifter,
Welcome to Polish Forums.
I am struggling here with the topic seemingly highlighed, one of racism............ Let me just say that it is certainly understandable, and I am grateful to never have had to experience World War II like my parents, or World War I like my grandparents did, in
Poland.
Politics are often evil, and Stalin was hated and feared even by his own people, so please keep that in mind.
Also, it cost alot of Russian lives in the end to help defeat the Nazi army.
I still remember being told of the horrors of the Russian siege of Warsaw.
Still, I want to love the individuals, and hate the politics..and ignorance and cruelty are not limited to any race of people....neither is the ability for compassion and forgiveness.

Hello Malgozata, I completely understand what you mean, I'm sorry for bringing up this point about russians. I am certainly in no place to judge as I was not there and then. I just realized how impressions stay with someone when they are presented with a certain people's point of view. I'm sure Ukranians wouldn't paint a nice portrait of poles if I had ukranian friends. On the other hand, I haven't met many russians in Europe, and those I have seen were obnoxious types with lots of money. Same impression Americans give off in many countries.
I can tell you however that I did meet russians in canada and in the US and they were wonderful people who knew how to party :)

And Jane Done, I can understand why you might not like Rzeszow, I feel the same way about the town I was from as well. I now live in Montreal and wouldn't like moving back to my small town. If I could move to Poland again, I would probably pick Krakow :)

I heard the motto of Rzeszow is "There are worse places to live in Poland."

Is that true?

Well it depends on what would you like to do in Rzeszow.
I'ts really safe, calm town, not so crowded like e.g. Warsaw.Maybe not so many to do but people're living there, having family, own busniness ....

My workmate Rob Holicki drives all the way back to Rzeszow from Yorkshire, England for his holidays. It takes him 3 days!. He says it's to use his Dad's garage to do cheap repairs on his car but we all know it's so he can show off in his Lexus.

Rzeszow is a relatively quiet town, but it's also a student town with a large young population, so there are enough little clubs and pubs to have fun and go out. It's also the kind of town where I could walk drunk in the middle of the night without worrying about getting hassled or mugged, as it apparently happens more in cities like Kielce.

My favorite spots were Twasz Mieska (a nice alternative oriented pub) and Trygon, a small club which focused on electronic music.

I had some good friends there and many good memories so i dont have a lot of bad things to say about Rzeszow.

It does change fast! Within the two years I was there, I saw the construction of a bridge (the one close to the sports complex, I forget the name) and a bunch of bars and restaurants closed while new ones opened. Oh yeah, also a new shopping mall was built close to the rynek! Better looking than the one close to the train station ;)

When did you last visit your city pingwin?
