you mean the board game?
probably not played at all Poland (although heard about, because of various references in Hollywood movies or US TV series)

I played it for months here. A guy called Keiran McFarlane was the DM, from Melbourne. He has since taken off to Korea, now in China I believe. He was sth of a genius when it came to D&D. He taught me a lot about creative visualisation and role-play (RP). There is another guy called Bruce here who isn't as up to speed on modern D&D as Kel was but he played the old game for years and plans to set up a new campaign here. It was a good occasion to drink

Are you from Oz mate?

Sophia:
role-play?

Yes - you pretend to be a mediaeval style character in a made up world - great fun.

I stopped playing when my mates and I drifted apart geographically. We played every Saturday religiously. Got a bit lost when 2nd edition became superceded too.

I also played as a ranger. Our team played for few months and stopped, but our DM plans to return to the game soon... i just can't wait for that moment

Definitely. We used to mix with 1st Ed too, but mainly for the character classes.

We used to play all Saturday afternoon and usually hit the hay at about sunrise Sunday morning!

My fave characters were elf mages, cavaliers or Paladins.

I draw my +4 vorpal schword and lop off your head! Just kidding mate - sounds good. I take it you get dressed up and act out the role play rather than verbally decribe/draw etc

We had to bust into an orc camp. One of our wizards had a spell to polymorph another character so I used it to change the character of a normal character into an orc. It was a blast. The guy who role played the orc is a super bluffer and put the DM to the sword. He had to play off the loyalties of the orcs and create division in the ranks. We had to tag him to make sure that, when the time came for us to enter the fortress, that we wouldn't kill him. He was one of ours. Priceless!!

I had a group Creeping through a fortress. Trying to avoid the Spider Queen.. 1 Guy found a Spell book.. There was an argument over who should have it..

So we let fate decide.. And the contestors rolled a d20

The Winner was Teleported the instant he opened it.

2 Levels down. And 3 rooms across. LOL
Ohh And when he re-appeared.. He was Butt naked..
His face was Priceless. :)

All his kit was spread across the Fortress... He never got most of it back.

This wasnt my idea.. It was a Module trap. ( nice one too )
lol

Great stories.

When I DM'd I allowed firearms which made the game all the more fun. Needless to say, the PC's became reliant on their pistols at close quarters and I'd throw in quite a few misfires when they really didnt want it to happen!

I also loved sending assassins after them. One of their arch nemesis lasted a few months til they got him cornered in a sewer. They found out he was a high level wererat right at the end. Great fun.

I wonder if it would be feasible gaming over the net with an eyecam - like a conferrencing set up??

Our DM gave us an Uber-equipement planning that we lose it in the meantime. But he didn't have luck and his constant tries of killing us were one big failure. He even send once on us a whole army, but the only reasult was that, that we earned FOUR levels in ONE game, even though it is against the rules.

Our DM (the bastard) set one of our player's against me because I had become a bit cocky. The PC eventually killed me in mysterious circumstances, and to cover their tracks they had the same guy that killed me resurrect me shortly thereafter so I wouldnt suspect foul play. I found out months later when I found my gear when searching his body after he died - very sneaky.

As a DM, I had an army against my group (with lots of NPC's). It ended up being a siege, and my group escaped after blowing the castle's powder store and escaping thru a hidden tunnel.

I also loved using the scenarios pre made in Dragon magazine.

Best way to make PC's lose stuff is have them on a boat and capsize it ;-)

There was a character called Kirgit who had 100HP, was a 17th-level human fighter and used 2 katanas. He was to fight the Orc Commander and lead us to victory. Classic drama unfolded, 2 double 20's killed him outright but still we prevailed due to using an enchanted longbow from our powerful elf, Laucian.

I was Arek the Cleric. I had Remove Paralysis and Summon Monster as 2 of my key spells. Cure Moderate Wounds was the most useful. My dilemma was when to enter battles with my Morning Star and club away. I had AC 17 for most of the game, but AC 20 after some time so I rolled the dice in more ways than one. If I died, my team as good as failed. I was healer extraordinaire.

Please, if this thread slips down, revive it. PF was crying out for sth like this.

Ewwww

Guns..?

You make me laugh.. And cry.

Why would any self respecting DM. Allow guns.??
Why not just play Warhammer..??

Another quasi medieval spawn of Dungeons and dragons.

You cant handle the close quarters explore and search..
So throw in a couple of Grenades.... Job done.
Now who gets the loot.?

You all obviously had soft Dms.
Throw a Fireball. OR anything explosive into any of my rooms.
And i would incenerate between 40% and 60% of the loot. Depending on the size of the room.
Metal mb Metal.. But it still melts.

Anyone want ashes..?
