East vs. West Poland: dividing voivodeships

I'm trying to make a distinction between "East" and "West" Poland. Does someone know what the common division of Voivodeships is? Probably based on what used to be respectively the Russian and Prusian parts after the Vienna Congress? What about the following:
"West": ZACH POMO KUJA WIEL LUBU DOLN OPOL
"East": LUBE MALO MAZO PODK PODL SLAS LODZ SWIE WARM
See for Voivodeships:

Voivodeship of Poland

I would be really grateful if someone could give me advise here!

I don't agree with the Sląsk (Silesian) classification. I regard myself as being in the SW of Poland and I live in Silesia. Judging by ur map, it's in the centre if anything but most books classify Gliwice as being in the S of Poland, ever so slightly to the west.

It's only 85kms from Cieszyn which is a border town with the Czech Republic

Hi Seanus, thanks for your comment!! OK, I'll move Slask to the "west group". Best wishes, and thank you all again for the comments - this is indeed a very useful site, celinski!!

Expect some pedantic replies tho. Silesia lies right in the middle but Lower Silesia lies a little to the west which would shift the balance.

Interesting thread
