Did anybody watch "Despatches" last night? Seems that the number of Poles that have come into the UK to settle is creating hell for Schools and Public Services. Sounds to me like the influx of Eastern Europeans isn't such a good thing at all and you have to admit, in some places it has been over-kill.

oldham (near manchester) seems to have lots of poles here now... where i work the magority of new employees are polish who barely speak engish, at first this seemed to a big problem for me as I know many english people who could not get these jobs here and were told "no jobs available" but still the polska's kept comming.

I know realise that you poles seem to be very nice people and work very hard :)

Also ... all the polish girls ive come across are absolutly georgeous too, So as a 28 yr old english guy .. I just wanted to say i have no problem with you people living here and i Admire all the polish on this site who write in english.. thank you :)

I think its like all nations...you have good and bad..I think from personal experience (being English) that Poles are respected for their honesty and hard work.Obviously you do get some idiots that don't like any other nationality. It may be the same in Poland..I wouldn't know.

First of all - hi everyone. I'm a polish guy, who used to live in Liverpool (around 11 months).

I've a BA degree in english philology, now applying for an MA, working as a translator.

Anyway. I was living in Liverpool, had some great times there, met one of the most amazing women in my life (from Birmingham), some really cool people in Krazyhouse (pub in Liv). I had some bad times as well - encounter with chavs, chav girls (probably there's a proper word for them ;) ), some other jerks who had problems with people from other countries.

All I wanted to say is that I hate people generalizing when it comes to any sphere of life. Polish people are... English people are... Treat people as individuals. I've met A LOT of idiots from Poland in England. I've also met xenophobes knowing nothing about my country and throwing all people of my nationality into one bag.

Get to know a person before you judge him/her. Yes, I admit - a lot of morons from Poland go to the UK, I feel ashamed when I see those chav-like Poles. But that's not representative of all polish people. More tolerance. Please.

I miss England. I miss some amazing people I've met there.

Btw. I would love to have an english person on my IM (MSN, AIM, anything - you pick). So if anybody's interested - I'd be really happy to have a person I can talk with (about different stuff).

Btw. my myspace page (because I'm new here, and nobody knows me - it's not spam or anything)

h t t p:// profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=135 266522 (you have to remove the blank space between '135' and '266522' ;)

Peace.

Steady now, I don't live in Bridgwater...

Did you know that the doctors at Musgrove Park hospital have a code they write on the notes of Bridgwater patients that are a bit hard to diagnose. It's NFB.. Normal for Bridgwater.. it caused an outcry when Dr Phil Hammond first disclosed this fact on national radio

Generalisation is pretty normal anywhere you go. I think the English are more fed up with the numbers of Polish as opposed to individuals. The numbers have been ridiculous and most English people I know of are weary of Polish people now.

I don't see why people in general have to go on about where someone comes from. Who cares! If people are worried about jobs going then get off your rear end and go and find a job. Its not the fault of anyone else but your own.

No offence but the only people that I know of that have married Polish girls have not been that popular with local girls for one reason or another. Some Polish women are very attractive but as they say beauty is only skin deep. [/uote]
Utter rubbish! I dont think anyone goes out to purposely marry a person of a certain nationality-If they do it is doomed to failure from the word go.You get on with someone, that turns into more and then you decide to stay with them because it works. They are not always even the type of people you might have expected to be with either.Am I to assume that if one marries a person of their own nationality they are somehow superior? It doesnt work like that and those who think it does dont know a lot about it.I suggest that their only relationship experience is possibly with themselves-do they roll over and ignore themselves after....?

Then there's the one that thinks he's a lorry, "drives" around teh town, making lorry noises, he does give had signals and remember to change gear though, apparently it's his brother who collects shopping trolleys to throw off the town bridge.

There's another one whyo runs up to complete strangers in the street, gives them racing tips, then runs off again.

Only Joe Strummer could fall in love with the place and choose to live there

hi
i have to agree with my friend sarah about polish ppl working really hard if only half the ppl in england would work as hard as they do maybe them there would not be so many ppl on beneifts.

Wrong, i have worked with polish people and found them to be as bad as the english

Quoting: freddy
us brits are being treated like second class citizens ,and all the hard work our fathers ,grandfathers did like fighting for better employment rights is being taken away because the poles will work for half the price .

Got to agree with this, the company i worked for was 75% polish towards the end and they were favoured more by the company.

It's not their fault Poland has high unemployment.

Its not ours either but since all the polish started coming in there is nothing for the british, i am currently unemployed after being laid off due to the polish being favoured and the trouble i have had finding another job is horrible.

Quoting: Gamberro
It's always easy to blame someone else for the fact that you are a pleb and can't get off your arse to get a job

I am not a pleb and take offence at your view of people who are frinding it hard to get a job due to the influx of polish arriving.

No offence but enough is enough, there are way to many turning up in the uk.

It sounds like you are just making excuses to me.

You are saying that out of the thousands of jobs there are available at the jobcentre and sites like monster etc. that all

How do other British find jobs then at all?

Are you qualified? Trying hard enough? etc - there are many possible reasons you are finding nothing.

No offense meant - but I think you are looking at the wrong 'reason' that you are unemployed.

Not making excuses at all, it was proven on TV that the agencys favour the polish.

My qualifications are none of your business and yes i am trying hard enough, i am not using the poles as an excuse to find a job at all.

Why the hell would i use excuses not to work when i have 2 kids to feed, i have never been one for sitting on my arse at home and before the poles turned up finding a job was a lot easier (you could walk into an agency and be put to work).

good for you - I cannot say any different; I don't not know you at all.

Some people still do - those who are right for the jobs/best candidates.

If i could link to it i would.

I dont claim benefits since my other half also works and would not want to.

I assume you are saying that i am not the right candidate for a job?

Why cant they just go home and let the UK get back to normal.

I don't know. I don't know which jobs you have applied for and if you have been eligible for the post. I am just trying to get you to look to other reasons for unemployment than that which you suggest.

But the UK is normal. We are a multi-cultural society that should be proud!

Having Polish people in our countries bring us many benefits.

Just one: We have a 'greying population' - the amount of young Polish people who are coming to our countries is giving us a boost and helping this problem.

There are many more.

The arrogence of some of you people is unbelivievable. All you do is moan about lack of work in Poland which obviously couldnt possibly be Polands fault, but as soon as someone from the country over a million of you have come too tells you about his situation the arrogence and posturing kicks in. How do any of you know what the situation is like where he lives? He may live in an area like mine where untill very recently there was high unemployment due to thatcher that has suddenly welcomed tens of thousands of people willing to work for peanuts in crappy conditions. If you were an employer looking to save money who would you employ, the local who knows his rights and expects a decent wage or someone just off the boat who will work all hours for little pay?
He may be a warehouse man or such and if thats the case he probably is getting turned down in favour of immigrent labour . God I cant wait till some of you get home and find all the jobs in Poland you want taken by Ukrainians or Belrussians the sapogi will be on the other foot then.

ggrrr ,yep bubba,Ive sat back too long now It just had to burst forth. But I suppose I will have some strawberry picker calling me polonophobic or some tit who thinks they are the brains of europe laughing at the fact my spelling isnt 100% . I could give a monkeys though, Im dyslexic and proud and sick to death of people who have not one clue what they are talking about insulting people . Yes there are tossers who come on here to insult Poles, and a fair few dole dodgers that probably find it conveniant to jump on a bandwagon of blaming everyone but themselves for thier situation(something I would have thought Poles would have a natural empathy towards) but there are plenty of areas in this country that really are getting knocked for six by parasitical types only here for money, and that includes both the new workers who clearly have little respect for the country providing them with employment and the toss pot employers who spout all that crap about "Poles being natural hard workers" ,when they mean ,CHEAP labour.
