Of course, between 1204-1453 many islands of Greece and a part of Peloponese had become catholic due to intensive pressure from Genovese and Venecians. In Cyclades(Mykonos,Santorini,Ios,Naxos) many have remained catholic.
There were also mixed marriages between Latins and Greeks but the folk never liked them or catholicism.Actually there was a big battle between orthodox and catholic church and the Pope promised a crusade to throw Ottomans out under the agreement that the two churches unite and Byzantine turns to catholicism. This agreement by Byzantine emperor in 1402 was never accepted by church or folk.
Basil 2 is called the Bulgaroctone because his troops killed a lot of Bulgarians during many wars.Basil 1 was called the Macedon,he was a miracle of physical strength, was born absolutely unknown in a village of northern Greece and came to the throne after he strangulated with his hands Mikhail, the emperor who took him as bodyguard admiring his physical strength.
