ive smoked dope on a regular basis for over 20 years and I hold down a good job and have no mental health problems. Who can say later in life, but I enjoy it and think its less harmful than the long term effects of excessive drinking. Now what were we talking about again??????????

Ironically enough, my friend drives high all the time, but the one time she was in an accident, she was completely sober

The thing that makes laugh about this is that everyone has been sucked in by this so-called research; every year there is research into cannabis and every year there is a different result. When will people learn that it is not the car that kills, it is the driver; the same goes for alcohol, drugs and alike.
Remarkably there are people (like myself) who are responsible pot users. We hold good jobs, pay our rent/mortgages, pay our bills on time and pay our taxes. To me pot is like alcohol (without all the nasty side effects). You don't drive when high, you don't go to work high or do anything you shouldn't do while under the effect of alcohol (or marijuana). It's that simple.

Exactly, the same as alcoholics are people with a high dependency rate... it has even been suggested that a person who is addicted to something has more addictive genes; normally we all have about nine of these genes but people with an addiction can have up-to 24 of these genes and when people marry in the same social gene pool, this can lead to hereditary addictive traits in their children.

And guess what people, I was stoned last night and I have no urge to murder my family or seeing pink elephants flying past my window plus have no hangover, I wonder how many of you can say the same with your kidneys regenerating themselves and your brain pickled in alcohol and still this morning you will drive, thinking you are ok :O)

theres obviously a difference between occasional recreational ganja use and habitual dependency - lighting up first thing in the morning the spliff you left in the ashtray the night before

I was at that party too! It lasted 3 years (Man!), during which I dropped out of college twice, crashed my motorbike (twice), lost 4 boyfriends (through negligence), half my family and 23 jobs! (I was sacked FIVE times!).

So what's my point??? Not sure, actually. Errr.....

"Canabis is bad, dude!"

I crashed no motorbikes (or even pushbikes), I lost no family as a result of smoking, and I never lost my job. I did get thrown out of university, although that might have happened anyway. I did suffer from depression, but that also might have happened anyway. I do look back at it with varying levels of fondness, but usually as a waste of time and money. But you've got to waste your time and money on something, and it's not as if it was the only thing I did waste time and money on.

Oh man, i did alot worse things than that....

Like others have said, its different for everyone, for me i think now im 'out of the woods' so to speak that i have realised i may have an addictive persnality and pot was a bad thing, started on it heavy from a young age, 15. Never smoked spliffs, as they werent strong enough, buckets and fountains all the way.. then came the amphetamines and pills and coke, dabbled with the smack briefly, man i should be dead, was such an idoit. Youth is a dangerous thing..

I was lucky, still had enough strength and sense to sort myself out, get back in the rat race and start achieving my goals, people who know me now just don't understand what I've been through. Makes me smile sometimes

Good to know how it feels though, enables you to be able to give realistic advice to my children if the need arises.

Only those who walk the path can then preach it...

It takes time thats for sure..

Repairing the damage is the on-going price for years n years of abuse..

Meeting my GF was the final piece of the puzzle. If i hadn't met her i'd still be weighed down with temptation... Not anymore.. life is for living and exploring, not hiding away from..

Stick with it....you eventually can look back and laugh at yourself, with no danger of ever going back there.

My dullest moment? Maybe when I paid stupid money for a trip to Amsterdam, and got so totally wrecked I couldn't get off the tram. I did about 60 laps of the city, and have no recollection of the entire weekend other than the interior of the tram!

Must put Amsterdam back on my "to do" list!

Drugs are made chemically....this just happens to be a grass that has some effects if it lights on fire. Whether they are controlled flames, or wildfires, people and animals will get high...

Used to be considered a family friendly recreation back in the day. Cowboys noticed that cows ate it and got "loopy" so they ate it, some smoked it, and shared it with the world. Used to be called Cow-weed or cow-grass, not sure, but people used to think it was actually fun for the family. Of course, the government has told us otherwise.

lol,Used to work for English Heritage at one of its "flagship" country house places. The head Gardner and I got on really well(would have loved his job but hayfever kinda rules it out lol) he pointed out where the familiy weed plot had been all through the Victorian and Edwardian era....apparently,the ladies of posh houses had such dull lives that they tended to get stoned on a regular basis.....maybe explains the corsets....needed something to stay upright :)

WARNING, please take heed!

There is a lethally dangerous and highly infectious virus being passed around electronically, orally, and by hand.

This virus is called Weary-Overload-Recreational-Killer (WORK). If you receive WORK from any of your colleagues, your boss, or anyone else via any means DO NOT TOUCH IT. This virus will wipe out your private life completely. Quarantaine the virus whenever you can, and make sure you isolate yourself from it properly. Rigorous measures are not to be shunned, in order to seize control of your life and eliminate this virus!

If you should come into contact with WORK, make sure to have two friends standing by for this emergency, and that they rush you to the nearest outlet for Work-Isolating-Neutralizer-Extract (WINE) or Bothersome-Employer-Elimination-Rebooter (BEER) or alternately Work-Effect-Elimination-Dosages (WEED) if available and purchase a full complement or as much as you can afford. Take the antidote repeatedly until WORK has been completely eliminated from your life, and system.
