Forged parking ticket received in Poland

I got caught using a forged parking ticket in My (Polish) girlfriends car.

It turns out the Police have a photo of the ticket but they don't have the ticket.

They took her into the police station for a statement and I believe I am next. What can I expect.

I'm sure the do-gooders will be on to criticise me so before you start yes I did wrong but It was my first time to ever do something stupid like this and I am willing to stand up and take my punishment. I'm not a criminal! I will however accept I am an idiot.

Can anybody tell me what to expect please!

When you face the Police remember to admit nothing, deny everything and make counter accusations. Once you're out, go ahead and sell your girlfriend’s car, get her a lawyer, dump her and start a business.

Seriously, why is it such a big deal, can't you just pay for the parking and call it a day? Tell them this was your first time, say that you’re willing to pay for the whole month of parking in advance and give them the name of the person who got you the fake ticket, (if applicable).

BTW do you live in Poland or GB?

Havok I live in Poland, I would rather not dump her :-) W I have to go to make a statement nobody mentioned a I could just pay the parking. I will happily pay a fine if they suggest one, do you think that will be the case.

Forging a parking ticket? That is really silly, not to say idiotic. In Warsaw you pay like 3 PLN per hour. Ever heard of a "civic society" ? I hope they put a stamp in your passport "Refused".

Just tell them that you met somebody who span you a yarn about buying parking tickets in bulk at a discount and offered you some. You thought that it was legit.

I would love to meet you Sobieski, for no other reason than to see your high horse. Yes I made a mistake, I mentioned that already. I was offered the ticket and quite stupidly used it , Once. I'm pretty sure your life is guilt free, pearly gates for you mate.

If your criminal record is clean and you’re going to cooperate at the police station I would assume that you should be ok.

Was this a city owned parking or a private one?

Go to the police station ask what the charge or the penalty is, whatever, pay it and be on your way. It's like a bus ticket. You should have paid them off when you had a chance. Do you speak Polish? if not take someone with you who does.

Might not be a fine - forged tickets are always seen as worse than not having a ticket, because there's intent to defraud.

Best advice is to take a Polish person who has a decent grasp of the law with you. Don't sign anything without having it checked first, and if they offer you a fixed penalty, take it and run.

I don't understand. What is a forged parking ticket? Does he mean a fake parking stub from a timed car park garage?
Over here I've heard of peeps putting a fake parking ticket on their car -the kind the meter maid leaves on your windshield for an expired meter- in hopes that the next meter maid to come past will think your car was already ticketed and leave it alone.

It's not an official document, it's a ******* parking ticket. You don't need a lawyer for that, just 30 PLN in your pocket at max. I do realize that's 30PLN is worth 3 days worth of potatoes and strawberries for you, but it's not the end of the world, you know.

Using a forged official document in any way is a crime. Residents' parking permits are official documents.
Seeking to make unfair monetary gains is fraud. Fraud is also a crime.

You are right.
I applied for a Polish driving licence as mine was suspended in the UK for three months as I live in Poland now I didn't have a permanent UK address.
Anyway the woman through my wife asked what happened to my licence and as there was no option on the back for reapplying for a suspended licence, she said oh it doesn't matter and just ticked the lost option box.

They sent it off to the DVLA and they sent it back to Poland saying that I had lied on the document. Well of course the woman forgot about that she had filled it in as a lost licence and reported me to the Police who arrested me for trying to get a Polish driving licence illegally.

Luckily the Police were sensible about it and just understood it as a mistake and dropped all charges, but the woman in the office swore blind that I had filled the document in and not her... stuck up cow!!!

This was all nine years ago and things are better now but they are **** hot on forgeries and alike.

It's actually one thing that I like here - they are far, far more worried about making sure that documents are correct than the UK. I'm pretty sure this is why identity theft is almost unknown here - with so many humans involved in the process, it's much harder to slip through the net.

If you were trying to pass it off as a real copy of the newspaper and selling it (or somehow financially gaining) - they, like in any other country, would prosecute you. No different in the USA, toilet-cleaning chump.
