Hello all.

I was just wondering if you know of any good books (or websites) to read before moving to Poland. Maybe to prepare for the culture, the do's and dont's etc?! Maybe with a background about the history etc. Michael Palin did something about Eastern Europe but not much about Poland.

Thanks
Jars

just learn along those books are not worth monies you would spend on them will give a few misconceptions about Poland.
Go first for a short visit if you can.

The Xenophobe's guide to Poles is pretty good. "Shortcuts to Poland" by Laura Klos-Sokol is more detailed and also pretty good. "A Country in the Moon" by Michael Moran isn't bad but "There's an Egg in my Soup" is best avoided.

I guess that is because it is outdated ?
There is also "Shortcuts to Poland" but it is very US focused.

The Polandian blog is worth reading, though it's a bit repetitive these days -

http://polandian.com/

I'd start from the beginning of the blog.
