Internet without TPSA

TPSA have just cut my phone line. Legally they shouldn't have (my company has a valid contract with them and owes them no money) but they did (because no payments have been made since January for internet connection which was cancelled in January but they kept billing for anyway).

I would very much like to stick the middle finger of each hand up to TPSA but really do need to have internet at home. Unfortunately the building where I live is not wired for Aster or Chello (apart from the very basic TV channels), so I can't use those companies.

As far as I can see my options are Sferia, Era GSM's UMTS service, or another operator which does not use any of TPSA's lines. Anybody had any experience with any of those? Any words of wisdom?

Although we have Neostrada at home (because no alternative), in my work laptop I have an I-Plus card and that works fine for most Internet activities such as mailing, surfing... Not really suitable for YouTube etc.. But I believe you have them with different speeds.

How about Dialog, do you have internet at home right now?

If you can get away with Aster or UPC, try that first. Otherwise have a look at internet via a mobile phone operator again. The experience is widely dependent on the modem you have (I recommend a option GE0301 HSUPA modem) as well as the provider. For example, Play are relatively cheap, but limit you to 1Mbps. Plus and Era should provide full speed, depending on you location relative to a base station.
For me personally, I have internet from Era (~10GB limit / month) and after I managed to get an external antenna my speeds came up to around 2Mbps. Having said all that, it's cheaper to use any landline provider compared to a mobile phone provider.

TPSA are a bunch of incompetant bandits in my opinion.....They charged me loads of money for an internet connection , and when i finally got tired of paying the same bill several times over i cancelled them out of my life...

Long after i no longer had a telephone they continued to send me bills , which i paid , untill they finally assured me all was paid...

Now some four years after i no longer had a phone some other company which it seems has bought a small debt that TPSA say still exists is chasing me for this money , plus of course a large lump added on to line their pockets....The Energa company isnt much better......!

This is very common with TPSA.

A few years ago I got Neostrada into my flat, phone, internet ect. When I move to a new place I asked at the shop could I cancel the contract, or switch it to my new address. They said if i cancelled it I would have to pay them for the rest of the contract, so I asked them to install it into my new place. A month after moving in, and several tech's from them later they still couldn't get it up and running. I told them that I would cancel as it clearly wasn't working and I could find an internet company that would work in that flat. They went mental, saying that cos I moved into a new address that I had to pay for a further years contract if i wanted to cancel the 3 months left on the current one. After I explained that this was the most stupid thing i've ever heard, and that if they wanted to press me for more money even when they charged me for a service they couldn't provide, for upto 2 years later I continued to receive bills plus extra's for not paying. When I finally broke luckily I met a friend who is a lawyer and he sorted it out.

TPSA had control of the market for such a long time that they think that they can charge and do what they want. Even when their service is sh1t compared to other companies.

My advice is to stay way clear of those bandits, commie company with commie rules IMO.

Harry: Internet without TPSA Can't you get Netia or something?Lately it's been very popular. Myself, I'm plugged to a local network from my borough and, to be honest, it's cheap, fast and always works perfectly.

Harry do you have any neighbors who would let you jump on their wireless network if you paid part of the abonament? I did this once in the past and it worked well for us. Also Era Blue Connect (wireless dongle setup) is an option if you are not a heavy user. no help.

Um, what? The last 4 posts before me state the dates properly. I think I was speaking about TPSA, maybe if you actually read it properly you would have noticed it was a few years old.
