You can try connecting through the Tor network for free, never tried it myself though.

I tried that, but couldn't get it to work at all. I installed the various software and plugins, but it seems quite an advanced task. Maybe I'll try again this week. That would probably give BBC.

but a VPN will give you more options i

Yes, a much better idea, especially since proxy servers can often be detected.

Astrill www.astrill.com are very good. The BETA testing stage has finished and they are now charging, but they're giving an 81% discount at the moment, as an introductory offer, so it could be worth a go. I suspect they're respectable not least because they seem to have huge bandwidth which suggests a big outlay to set the service up.

You know I tried that one the other week and it buggered up my computer, but to be fair it was in beta.

The one I mentioned is a really good one as he has a massive set-up with servers at bluesquare in the UK.

Astril I am not 100% sure on them yet as they are still very new and IMHO not really there yet.
One outfit that you do not want to go with is Cienen.com as I personally know that many sites block their IP's as there is a bit of a VPN war going on at the moment.

VPN sounds like a good option. I guess if you want access to BBC Iplayer etc. then that would be preferable. Peresonally, if i have missed a programme I find that its very easy to find on piratebay! (also excellent for 24, Lost etc. with very fast downloads) - but hey, I appreciate that stealing isn't everybody's cup of tea!

Still no problems with Filmon since I paid!

Check out UKNOVA. You have to register (and check the FAQ about uploading), but the programmes (more or less everything) is ready to download within an hour of being shown, and they are usually much quicker to download than from piratebay, often just a couple of minutes.

It's legal too! This means that if the BBC are about to release something on DVD, it won't be available. I find it works fastest if things are up to a couple of weeks old, but more than an hour old.

Depends doesn't it, as technically it isn't legal as they are breaking secondary infringement copyright Laws

Really? They seem fairly organised and have tight membership rules. Works well though.

From December 19 we will be releasing our site all over Europe www.tvcatchup.com

What happened to your site? Did it ever get going?

filmon.com have terrible security and no geo-blocking and there are already court cases against them from Sky, The BBC, ITV, and C4.

This still works great you have to pay 10 euros a month but for me it's well worth it

Just discovered a really good way to watch British TV such as BBC iplayer, ITV, Sky etc.

Download Expatshield (it's free) and once it is switched on, it fools websites into thinking you are connecting via a UK IP address.

I've been using it for the past couple of days and it works well.

When you are browsing the web, you can have Expatshield switched on or off (your choice and just takes one click of your mouse to connect/disconnect) so anytime you are trying to watch something or perhaps listen to BBC radio (football) and it says, "Sorry, you can not watch this from your location" - you just connect via Expatshield and then it works - SIMPLES!

No need to pay for anything :-) - ENJOY!

This has been around for a year or two but how do you watch Sky on this?
For Sky you will need a Sky account and the Sky player only links to one account and too many people using the same account sends a message of multiple users and closes the account.
If you have found out a way to get round this then please share it :)
