How much money did you spend today in Poland and what did you spend it on?

Ok, this isn't a big dick contest! It just may prove usefull to people who want to get an idea of how much it costs to live here.

You don't have to say if what you spent today is typical of a normal day but please list the items you spent money on and the cost of them.

So I will start it off today I spent: 7zł (pack of fresh pierogi), 11zl (pack of fags), 4zł (tin of cat food), 12zł (four cans of beer), 25zł taxi into town and back) and 50zł (pub!!) In total 109zł.

(I would say for me this a pretty typical amount to spend (although I must say I don't go to the pub everyday, I normally find I spend more on everyday items.)

3600PLN on new doors and 135PLN for door handles for my flat :) :) All to fit in with the Japanese look of my place.

i hope your having a drink after a day like that!! Last time I spent that amount in one day I had a few stiff ones in the evening!! Was there awoman involved?

15.50zł for roast chicken, chips, red cabbage, yoghurt and a cherry pop, at "Podlasiak", the best place to eat in Białystok (unless you really need a waiter).

Are there no trams or buses near you, or did you just take a taxi for convenience?

50zł (pub!!) In total 109zł.

I prefer beer, and I can't drink 50zl worth of beer in a pub. :)

I usually spend about 50zl a day, or less, although restaurants once or occasionally twice a week can bump that number up.

As an American, I always chuckle when I hear/read that. You know what I mean. A few years ago a British friend of mine asked me if he could pinch a fag. After a moment he smiled and said he guessed that was the wrong thing to say to a Yank. I just laughed and gave him a cigarette.

To be honest there is tram stop about ten minutes walk from me but I prefer to take a taxi, I don't run a car so I don't have the expense of petrol or anything.

I prefer beer, and I can't drink 50zl worth of beer in a pub. :)

I drunk three beeers and had a jd and coke to finish the night off with!

Guys thanks for posting as I said this could be usefull for someone who wants to get an idea about day to day living costs.

Today I spent about £700 despite being at work for 14 hours of this day. Dont ask!!!! This is the UK though. Typical day in Poland, 8z for fags, 15z for food and about 10z for transport. On a pub night it could get upto 150z.

Reminds me of the time, as a British student, I asked an American exchange student if I could borrow his rubber (eraser). He looked a little shocked, so I promised to return it after I'd used it.

hehehe - the guy must have went stupefied(in both meanings of the word ;)) (yes I admit to having edited that bit - you don't want to know what was before I changed it to stupefied :P) :) - American English and British English have more terrible (or at least on the same level) false friends than Polish and Czech

You are spoiling your ***. I pay 2zł for catscoff from Kaufland, and my *** just laps it up. I normally get it at the supermarket and for whiskers for example it's about 3zł but today I had to buy from a small local shop, hence 4zl!

yesterday wasn't a typical day. 660 pln for my daughters birthday party and about 170pln for dinner at a pizza place. today I buy groceries- so it is usually about 500 pln for the week and I also need to get some supplies for work so that is probably about 200 more. my car is economical on gas- It is about 200 to fill up and it will last me about 2 weeks.

yesterday, I spent the equivalent of 58 PLN on 2 sandwiches (16 CHF) ,about 390 PLN on groceries, 94 PLN on 2 cinema tickets (Zürich Film Festival).. A bit expensive, you might think, but that's Zürich for you..

Just spent 60 PLN going with our cat to the vet and he (the cat) was not even grateful for it :))). Also renewed my "Karta Miejska" which set me back another 90 PLN. But good value for money I think. Not the cat :) My wife is at the hairdresser now, and I am positively convinced she will refuse to tell me how much she spent on it :) My hairdresser charges me 20 PLN by the way.

Reminds me of when I had a bad back. My wife, acting on advice, went to the vet for something you put on horses. The vet asked what kind of horse it was. She then admitted it was for me. The vet just said, conspiritorially, "You didn't get it here". It's great stuff and costs about 25zł. Can't remember the name but your vet will know.

The last time i was in Poland (a month ago), My missus took me to a sunday market where i bought a quality pair of shoes @50PLN. The same pair of shoes (design, material - different brand name) costs about 150-200 PLN here in the UK, depending on where you go. Things can be cheaper in poland but you need to look in the right places.

Can't remember the name but your vet will know. I doubt it :). The przychodnia we are going to (meaning our cat and me) is only doing cats :) It is quite famous here in Warsaw. It is called Myszkin by the way. They are not cheap but very good.

Makes me wanna cry when I see this, in Zürich, just the beers would cost more than the whole meal you had in PL.. So I suppose that to survive a month they must earn a little bit more than Electrician in Olsztyn ;)

Is it still possible in Poland to eat for this price? I can think of two places in Poznan where you can, obviously they are not high end places but both pleasent enough little Italian places especially in the summer as both have gardens.
