Im wanting to buy a flat here and stay forever, but this is where i need help because i have read numerous replies to peoples questions and still feel a little in the dark!!! What do i need to do about residency, pesels citizenship flats etc????

I know im asking a lot of questions in one hit here but want some straight forward hard hitting answers!!

Tell your wife-to-be to do the research.

Or even - use the search button!

Its wife if you read sir! And have tried searching/ looking on here but a lot of people seem to contradict each other with answers, what im looking for is people with experience. True experience not just what you have heard from a friend.
With regards to the flat i have the information i need already thanks.

shame on you two

let me light a candle rather than curse the darkness

let's assume you can find a flat without any help, although you mentioned it in your post

pick an area where you would like to live, set a budget and call some estate agents

as you have a British passport you can work here without problems
as for residency, I would not bother about it
if you want to be squeaky clean then you can go to an office which your wife (assuming she is Polish) can tell you which one and get a meldunek

you can then go to another office to get a pesel number again ask for help as I do not know where you live

there I hope that helped

if you need anything else, don't hesitate to come back

(sits back and bathes in the glow of having helped his fellow man)

in my haste to reply, you appear to have reposted

True experience not just what you have heard from a friend.

Then go to the relevant office and ask for the latest up-to-date information.

I'll help you - Urzad Miasta for the PESEL/meldunek, Urzad Wojewodzski for the EU Residency Certificate.

Thanks to you both for some concrete info!
Yes my wife is Polish. With regard the flat, we have approached a company rather than an estate agent that are selling flats that they have built. They provide all the information, help etc regarding the flat. They charge 0.5% plus the current interest rate (which i think is about 4.5%) so its obviously 5% combined. The only catch to it all is you have to pay it back in 10 years. I think this is quite a good deal??!!! My brother in law (polish) seems to think it is?
With regards to residency etc i will have to head down to the relevant offices in centrum to speak to them with my wife now i know which ones they are.

Thanks
Tim
