Why is there NOTHING (besides Gdansk and Szczecin) in former Prussia?

What is there anyway? Two cities, Gdansk and Szczecin. Lots of nothing spotted with tiny little townships...

My friend from Krakow moved to Gdynia for a couple of years and now she's back. She reports that outside of city limits there wasn't much anyhow. And no roads neither.

That casts some light on the great things the Prussians have built in Poland while 'civillising' the land, eh? A mott and a bailey, constructed with bricks from torn down houses of the locals...

I'm sure you all heard about the reisen, Marienburg, keeping the commoners in stark poverty, and generally acting all flashy. But it's not so easy to reach the conclusion that indeed the Prussian rule had hurt those lands - because everyone is so impressed with Mercedes, they think everywhere German went, they immediately washed their feet.

Not in Prussia - in Prussia they lived in a form of a siege.

IMHO.

What do you expect after 65 years of non-prussianess and expellation of all Prussians and total destruction and re-population by non-prussian eastern Poles.

What about Gdynia, Słupsk, Koszalin, Sopot? What about great holiday resorts:
Ustka, Kołobrzeg, Świnoujście or Łeba? Pomorze and Pomorze Zachodnie are doing
fine, thank you. Maybe life here is slower than in Warsaw or Kraków, but life is good :)

Anyway - the Polish settlers that arrived to Pomorze, Ziemia Lubuska and Dolny Śląsk,
after these ancient, Piast Polish lands came back to Poland, were not only from the east,
but in fact from every Polish province. When you ask people in Słupsk or Ustka about
their roots, they come from every possible corner of Poland (sure, we have some Kashubs,
more to the east, south-east from Słupsk, but generally the area is 100% genuine Polish:
Poland doesn't schafft sich ab :))

I wouldn't say nothing, the most beautiful town in Poland (my point of view) Danzig or Gdansk is there.

And I've heard from a now there living ex-eastern Pole in my aquaintance (Sok) that the old prussian town of my grandparents, Breslau, is rebuild in it's old glory...

So it can't be that bad!

IMHO.

Loads of German heritage all over, roads pretty good too (for Poland), the closer to Kaliningrad the worse it gets but its mainly because the Russians had this habit of nuking everything built by Germans, sometimes it was rebuildable, sometimes it was not.

In a second im going to dig up pics of Breslau immidietaly after conquest by the Red Army and Wrocław now.

The place was totally nuked.

They're completely different, Wrocław is a typically german twist on various worldwide trends while Gdańsk is built mainly to Low Countries (especially Dutch) schools, both polish and german citizens commisioned mainly Dutch and sometimes Italian architects to work in Gdańsk.

Jesus Chrrist, I need to quote Wikipedia because someone did not pay attention in their history class. Here:
Obszar Prus Wschodnich pokrywały w większości tereny rolnicze (pola uprawne 51%, łąki i pastwiska 23%), ze stosunkowo niewielkim udziałem obszarów leśnych (18%, wobec średniej dla całych Prus 23%)[1].

In Warsaw commies wanted to make a point, in Wrocław polish architects were free to rebuild to the pre-war standard, that wasnt always possible but where it was it got done, stand by for pictures.
