Hello,

I am taking a job in Nowy Sacz. Does anyone live there and can you tell me what it's like?

Are there any other native speakers there?

I've heard it's a dive outside of Kraków. Full of rundown buildings and beggars but I can't confirm that. Just hearsay.

Nowy Sacz

it's a pretty little town...nothing much to do there though...

you can travel from there to Piwniczna, Krynica, Muszyna, Szczawnica - Kroscienko... very close to Krakow and Zakopane also...

I was there yesterday at the specialist hospital. I would not call it a "pretty" town. It seems to be spread over a large area and has a terric amount of light industrial premises and car showrooms. It seems to be a popular place to move too as lots of people advertise for property there.

It's your average non-descript small Polish town, really. There will be some life there, but I wouldn't bet on finding any other natives around.

The one big advantage is that you'll be close to Bieszczady. It wouldn't be my first choice for a job though - that part of the world is very insular and...well..backwards.

I'm not a night owl or a bar fly. I don't really know anyone close either. I have one friend in Krakow. I had something set up in Zielona Gora but it fell through.

Having spoken to some people, some say there is a well renowned business university in Nowy Sacz?

So as an English teacher you should be ok, lets be honest Lowfunk, it must be better than Lubin :)

Also if you like snow sports also i hear its a good place for skiing and the such like!

I'm also making the big move down south this year but to Bielsko-Biała, i wish you all the best and don't forget its not about how pretty the town is, its what you make of your life :)

I have been to Nowy Sacz on a couple of occasions, as people have mentioned it is very close to the mountains for ski-ing and cycling. I have met a few people from N.S and they have been very good sorts. Good luck with the move.

I might try and attend the Uni. My friend from Zielona Gora traded some teaching and lessons for working on his doctorate. I might try to do the same with my MBA.

I haven't skied in ages. The last time I hurt my knee a bit :-(

Maybe I will try to snow shoe.

bearing in mind you appear to be planning to commute to West London on a daily basis, the price of groceries ought to be the least of your worries

An employee lives near there, he is a ex-student of National-Louis University.

What do you need to know?

How do we know you are not another Breivik? I give you a number and next day there is a massacre.
