wildrover: When it comes to snow , the best thing is four wheel drive....if it turns to ice , nothing really works unless you have metal studs in the tyres.... But you said this the other day:
wildrover: Winter tyres are all very well , but they don,t help much if you don,t have a clue how to drive on slippery surfaces.... I am fortunate that i have spent quite a few years on the race track where power sliding into corners teaches you all you need to know about skid control . and i have quite a lot of experiance of driving off road too on tricky surfaces , a bit of snow for me is good fun.... And don,t think having a 4 x 4 will get you out of trouble if you can,t drive... a 4 x 4 is bigger and heavier than a normal car , and if you get into a skid with one it will slide faster and further than a normal car , and probably won,t stop untill you hit something...!
